I have seen some photographs on the website, which have watermarks. How can I add watermarks to my photos (using Adobe 5.5 or otherwise).

Does Adobe 5.5 have layers? Just put it on the top layer and merge.

Adobe 5.5 does have layers. It also has the 'Text' tool. However, I want the effect of a watermark, and not that of adding simple text. (Like the text dissolved in the picture)

The embossed look? Any examples that you want to emulate?

yes the emboss filter is what you use in photoshop (alot of people do anyways)...man i dunno if 5.5 has that though.

Set the type in a text layer in Photoshop, then set the layer opacity to 10% or so.

If you make a separate file with the watermark on a text layer, you can then drag that layer (from the palette) onto any other photo you want; resize as necessary on the new image.

Don't forget you can't put watermarks on challenge images!

I'd keep it off the print images, too! : )

Yes, the embossed look. Like the one that you find on the girls-photographs on many matrimonial sites.

Another way to add a watermark is to use iWatermark. I have played with the demo version and it seems very capable. You can specify many types of watermark in many different positions and orientations, including the "embossed look". It seems to be popular when you want to add the same watermark to many image files as a batch. Here's a link: //www.scriptsoftware.com/iwatermark/

I'd be interested to hear if any other DPC folks use it. I am considering buying it ($20), but have not done so yet. It runs on Windows and Mac OSX.
