What is the point in having people post comments on a photo after a contest is over? Here is what the member mnast had to say:
[ Where is the creativity in this picture? This just sucks. If there were a number available less than one you would get it. Too many people just pick up a camera and point it at something thinking they are a photographer. Learn the creative side, show the viewer more than just a picture of a messy office...or is this what you are so eager to show the world? ]

As far as I am concerned....him/her should be suspended as the poster of the pic was.

Oh and one more thing, specifically for user mnast,if I could find nothing better to photograph than a dog urinating on a hydrant,,,,you complete the sentence.

Hiya. Did you notice what happened? You pooped on his photo (gave him a 3 I think), and he turned around and pooped on your photo.

Yep - here is the kindness originally shown

"Holy cow,a dog with a camera...that deserves a 10 or more!!!!! Guess what,3 for a valiant effort. "

Guess what? A slapperoo can tend to earn a little poopie in life ... lol!

Hi ABC, On a sight that is open to comments from the entire world, it is sadly not a surprise to get an occasional belligerent comment that offers little if any substance. My suggestion in the future if you should receive comments like these, Just contact a moderator and ask them to quietly and discreetly delete it. You may not want to bring attention to a comment like this in an open forum. Why wave the attention flag for this individual. It's probably just what they are after. If these types of comments cease to gain attention, maybe they will go away. (It's also considered bad form to single out other members in a bad light, in many cases, you get out of things only what you put into them). - Life goes on, Best wishes.

Point taken,Gotcha. However in this case ,I think the individual should be singled out... the comment was made 'after the fact' and was a personal attack for a comment made DURING voting.Anyway, this is not the place to air it ,I suppose, and certainly not what the site is about.I guess if one can't take criticism, good or bad,one should not enter??

No - not in my view - this is an excellent little tank to learn how to take it, however base, and to improve your creativity and confidence as a result. Like a weekely art show without the carrying and forms, etc. - that is a significant point I haven't seen discussed (or criticized) lately ... Letterip - lol!

Uh-Oh Sarge...you may be opening a can of worms LOL

Constructive criticism is always a valuable method of learning. But, bad manners and silly comments that do nothing to promote a higher learning experience really do not belong on a site dedicated to the values as clearly stated in the site rules page.

Good point Morgan,
And manners be damned,we live in a mannerless society. However, here is the point and it goes like this...the challenge criteria was to take a photo of your corner of the world, which most did.What...and I'd really like an explanation for this...does a dog P...ing on a hydrant have to do with this????!!! and why would that person trash my corner, which actually was my corner...where I spend some of my time?So maybe I wasn't nice on my comment but atleast it was made during voting and not after the fact, which I mentioned before in a previous post.Oh well..so be it...live and learn.

I like the ability to express creativity. I like looking at others creative side as well. If I were a dog, the hydrant might very well be my corner of the world. If you don't get it or just like it, then vote accordingly. But play nice.

ABC - did u happen to check out the chat some had with CJMorgan about his 'My Den'? - a form of this was inadvertantly covered there - this is a valuable topic I think because the "Your Corner" seemed to inspire some folks to picture their actual corner - and when others criticize that (in your case as a reprisal after the vote) it can get a little close ... let the guy keep walkin his dog and you can keep doin what your doin so well ... and keep in mind there is always something good in or that results from stuff (this time voters/commenters) and the next show is in a few hours - so get your garbage in and batten down for the next round of shots (and just maybe some considerate, helpful comments from great photographers?) LOL!

You are being so nice - jam the guy up for settin up another name - wtf does that have to do with pictures and y are you lunging into this guy Zadore? Why would you do that, how does it serve him or you and how do readers benefit? What does your rippin' this guy have to do with pictures?
10/06/2002 05:56:58 PM · #16
SGT, because I read his last 10 comments...ABC, that is. And yes, it does have something to do with photos...even HE didn't like what he did with his first, therefore he runs and pretends to be someone else.

This discussion is over for me...waiste of time ;)

I would not have been so strong both ways ... but true my first reflexe was to click on 'ABC again'name to see what picture the other person was talking about.
I am not sure reading the begining of this thread I understood who said what to who.

We submit pictures, we expose them to comment, the comment after the challenge is interesting as well for further explaination. Revenge by commenting the other picture seems childish to me. But 'abc' 's own revenge in this thread as well looks childish to me as well.

Let's be prepared for next week challlenge :-)

OK guys and gals, let's drop it......seem Zadore has take a dislike to the thread and it's gotten off the subject...see my original post concening the after the contest comments. One short blurb to Zadore, before closing:in case you are interested in knowing why I have the 'new' name, post a reply and I'll email the reason to you. 10-4??

If you caught his opening post before he edited it, you'd have seen that his first account was suspended. After reading the comments he's left, I can well imagine why that happened. I'm kind of surprised a Moderator hasn't killed his duplicate account and shut down this thread. I mean, really, ABC complaining he got stupid, worthless comments? Ironic, but pitiful...
10/06/2002 06:24:37 PM · #20
I read ABC's previous comments and ... well .... I guess I would prefer get nothing than that .. useless and offensive. ABC, seeing your comments it's not either "certainly not what the site is about" as you wrote.
Cheers
