I saw this in a movie once. You get invited to a party with your significant other. When you arrive you drop your keys in a dish, bowl, or whatever. At the end of the night, the ladies pick a set of keys while blind-folded and whomever owns the keys is who they go home with. Apparently it was invented in the 70s when swinging started to become big. I'm neither condoning or condemning. It was something I thought about doing for the 70s challenge but I didn't think a whole lot of people would get it, plus it's not a real great shot anyways(bad reflections and shadows - I need a polarizer).

Owen - that is a great shot. Very 70-ish!!!! I agree, though, that enough people might not have gotten it. The entries are certainly not what I expected, either.

i really like the photo. Did you see it in The Ice Storm? Good movie. Maybe enough people wouldn't have gotten it, but you may have been able to fix that with the title, and it's definitely more original (and better done) than most of the entries. I wish you had entered it.

I thought wife-swapping is something new...you had it back in the 70s??
anyway the whole thing sounds a bit strange to me.(maybe because i am not a wife)

Its too bad that you did not enter ,there is not so many interesting compositions to look at . And most of it are not done well.

Your shot would get a good mars with the right title, I think

"Make Love, Not War!"

I wanted to submit something like this image for the 70s challenge but did not get shots of it with the lighting I liked during the challenge week. There are several creative modeling ideas with it that would work too. It would have been fun to put together.

orussell:

I'm old enough that I understood the image, but young enough not to have been invited to any theme parties quite like that. Great colors though, and the border certainly fits the theme. I think you might have scored pretty well.

I had an idea, but sat out as well, primarily because if you don't live in Boston, it wouldn't be abundantly clear that it is related to the 70s in any particular way.

I had started working on this and gave up because there was no where to stand that would remove the power lines. Even with advanced editing, I am not certain whether the power lines would be considered a major element.

Ahhh well, maybe next week.

The movie you saw that in was "The Ice Storm" from 1997
