3. Usually the customer wouldn't see my taxi if I was visiting their office anyway. However it should be noted that I have a nice looking car for when I visit customers so perhaps it's more important to me that I'd like to admit.

For us Yanks, the equivalent to the Brit's "Private Hire Taxi" would be a Limo Service. We tend to think of Limos as "stretches", but this isn't always true; a lot of companies rent nice cars with well-dressed drivers to businesspeople and the like.

Private hire taxis aren't just limo-style high class taxis. A regular car can operate as a private hire taxi. In fact the majority of private hire vehicles are just regular cars. The difference is, I think, that you can't flag down a private hire taxi on the street. You must call their office and "book it". Only "hackney carriage" taxis are allowed to be flagged down in the street here in the UK. Usually those are the black cabs you'll be familiar with. But a hackney carriage license is different to a private hire taxi license.
Clear as mud.

Never needed one. But for sure, if I get to go to nürburgring (the race track) I would definatelly hire Sabine Schimitz to be my driver. She's the driver for the v8 BMW M5, with racing mods. It really is a taxi, but not of the conventional one! Shes just crazy!

The same is true in the USA; we call them generically "Limo Services". Many of them are individual owners with 1 or 2 vehicles. They provide transportation by prearrangement, and you can't flag them down like a taxi. The one I used on location in Portland, Oregon was a Chevy van, for example. Another time I was in a Mercedes 240D.

So "limo service" doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a limo? I must remember that if I ever order a limo in America :)

Right. You get what you ask for/pay for. If you want the full Monty, ask for a "stretch". Even within that category they range from spacious to humongous, and you can find them with stocked bars, hot tubs (yes, it's true) and gawd knows what-all else.
