This is my only OUTTAKE from the childhood challenge...

I had high hopes for this photo but I just couldn't get it to work the way I wanted to....

I do like that rush of movement over the ground.
Not keen on the composition, but like the unusual viewpoint!

Mark this down, Jmsetzler blew it. By not submitting that awsome photo. Well thats my view and it doesn't seem to reflect the views of anyone else. Im going to assume you have a better one submitted but i haven't seen it yet.

My childhood outtakes.
By the way John - I think it was a pretty cool perspective. Quite original and creative- hope you submitted something even better, it's sure to be a winner!

This photo would have been hammered for lack of focus, etc...

What is wrong with the composition in this? Please explain. The unusual viewpoint, imho, is what makes the composition along with the movement.

I think this is a great photo, John.

I'm with Karen....this is awesome, both as a photo on its own and for the challenge.

And, again, d*mn you people for having so much creativity!! It just makes me feel that much more lame. 8(

I don't think I could have let myself put my new baby that close to the ground -- and in motion! I guess I have to get over that chicken instinct to get some more "dangerous" shots.

Good job!

Rob

Cool shot John!

Did you want a more urban (city setting) and thats what made you pull this photo?

I had a shot planned that was along these lines as well. I wanted to have a baseball card (a copy of a Mickey Mantle) attached to the front wheel of a bike and shoot a low perspective of the card flapping while the motion blur of the bike's wheel, ground and surrounding added interest.

Just couldn't get the time to fix my bike up for the shot.

I really like the skateboard photo. I can't wait to see which one you submitted to beat it out. Of course, that is what we've come to expect from you anyway!

Well, I cannot compete with John or Terry, for sure, but please look at my outtakes anyway.
Thanks!

What I wanted was sharper focus on the axle and wheels...couldn't get it... I would have liked to had more blur on everything else as well... The problem is that I could NOT ride the skateboard to do this shot. I had about 1/16" clearance with the camera taped to the bottom. My weight created enough sag on the board to make the camera drag... can't do that to an F707 :)

I really like the Transitions photo Karen. To me it really shows off the change from childhood to the teen years.

Looks great John. It takes some b*lls to strap an F707 to the underside of a skateboard and let it ride. Made for an awesome shot, though.

I like the carousel shots Terry. I saw there were a few of those in the challenge but it is a great vehicle for conveying childhood.

This is my childhood outtake. I didn't submit it because I was afraid the rest of you wouldn't understand its significance.OUTTAKE
