I was considering entering one of these two for the Light challenge but went with something completely different.

What's better, black and white or color?

And while you're in a critical mood, here's another pic from today if you care to critique. Thanks.

I like the black and white version better because the colors of the original are pretty dull and un interesting versus the black and white one. I think the bw-conversion too brings out the nice curves of the pedals better too.

I like the color one... such a lovely muted butter yellow...

I prefer the b/w. The dull colors take away from the color photo.

Also, crop is better on the b/w.

I like both, but I think the black and white is more dramatic.

If I had seen ONLY the b/w, it would drive me nuts wondering what color those lovely flowers really are.

i really love the b&w tone but i prefer the crop on the color shot.

B & W -- crop works for me. Nice tones.

I'm on the B&W bandwagon on this.

B/W all the way. Absolutely luscious image, tonalities.

Robt.

Thanks very much for the critiques. I had gone that way too in thinking the B&W was a bit more dramatic. The real color is a bit brighter yellow, I just muted it a bit to make it softer. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I like the color better. Nice portrait also.

I like them both! I think I do lean a bit more to the b/w, but I'm not sure if it's the crop or the tones. Indeed well done for either one I'd say.

The hooded photo really doesn't do anything for me at all, though. Technically, it seems okay, but the subject and pose just don't have interest to me. Just my opinion.

Did you do something more then just crop and turn to BW, because in the BW the aft flower looks sharper. I like the BW better, it has more impact when you look at it and it does appear to be a sharper image.

You're right, I hadnt really noticed but I processed two different versions. The shots were done on a tripod so they are exactly the same, but at different F-stops.
