Being merely an outdoor photographer I never use flashguns (only the camera flash now and then as a support light). But I like to get more in this kind of stuff, so I can experiment a bit with indoor photography. Looking on MPB (UK) for used flashguns I see some guns that are interestingly priced, in particular the Nikon SB 500 and the Nikon SB 600. So my question is, which one would be my best choice. As far I can see they both can be set up as a slave working with my Nikon D800 flashlight working as a commander, the SB 500 needs more time to reload (but I'm not sure that is important to me) due to the use of only 2 batteries and apparently the SB 600 will zoom in automatically when zooming in with my lens. Most important for me is that it can be triggered by my camera without the use of special triggers other than my camera flash light.

So, please advise. Thanks!

Well, after further research I decided to go with the SB-500. As I understand it the SB-500 had more possibilities in case I want to work with more than 1 flashgun and also the LED lights are an additional bonus. Only one more thing to do: learning everything there is about flash lights.
