Obviously I don't have one but don't you want a larger f-stop? f/2.8??? Or do those lens get stupid expensive. I have a Tokina 12-24 f/4. It's a great lens and I love it but I'm looking for a f/1.4 or f/2.8 (more light), probably a fixed lens though...

Definitely they get expensive, but also very heavy. The front elements get very large, quickly, particularly when the focal length gets down below about 15mm. The f/4 problem is offset to a great degree by the high-ISO capability of today's cameras, making an f/4 lens much more useful than it may have been, says, 10 years ago.
I see that there is a new offering coming from Samyang, a 14/2.4. Will be interesting to see what the IQ from that one is. MF only, of course.

i have 16-35 f2.8 and as said iso capabilities has negated this in most cases unless shooting in total dark but i have 35mm sigma art f1.4

as most landscape shots are around f8 etc f4 isn't really a problem this lens in £2800 uk pounds probably similar $ as we always loose out on these things

but is rectlinear and seems to have good good edge detail and not too much fisheye affect going on

There's one on ebay UK right now: //www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EF-11-24mm-F-4-0-EF-Lens-boxed-and-complete-/222244360390?hash=item33becbd0c6:g:lfIAAOSwZVlXwI66

You don't see many of them appearing second hand yet, which may be a good sign (their owners are sufficiently pleased with them not to ditch them for something else). However, the price tag is kind of hard to swallow, when you can buy a similar Sigma or other brand for a tenth the price.

For high quality, bargain wide angle - this lens (in Canon, Nikon and Pentax K mount) has recently caught my eye - available in two build versions too (one metal and one plastic).

There's a friend of mine (well, friend is too much I have to say) who is an Adobe Guru and an expert about lenses and made a comparison between that one, Tamron 15-30 and Samyang 14. The Irix seems by far worse than the others. I asked the company ta have a new one to understand if that lens had some flaws. I'll let you know.

As for the wide angles in general, I'd say that Tamron 15-30 is probably the best choice, great 15-30 length, good build quality and not so expensive as the 11-24.

14/15 is already a super wide focal length. IMO 11 is surely interesting but you would use it rarely. And surely not worth the extra money.
