Hmmm. I'm a bit confounded. I uploaded an image at 1200 pixels and on two browsers (IE and Chrome), the preview is larger and less sharp than when viewed at 100% in Photoshop. It physically measures about 13" on my display in the browsers while it measures 11" in PS. Zoom is set at 100% on browser settings. Could there be another problem and is it just my display or has the file actually been changed?

That's a head scratcher... DPC certainly does automatic down-scaling when the browser window is too small to display the image full size. I wonder if the code to do that is buggered, and is up-scaling when the browser window is very large?

And by the way, you've been missed around here!

CNTL + Mouse scroll wheel, in your browser.

Hey, Sneezy. Long time no see.

I'm looking at your submission and it's no way as sharp and crisp as I'd expect one of yours to be. But on the other hand, I'm having zero problems with what you're describing on my own images, so I doubt very much it's a DPC resizing (or whatever) issue. You could e-mail me the full size if you want and let me see what happens from my end...

I opened a smaller window and the image definitely shrinks down. I wonder if it does enlarge with a large screen. I'm using a 27" display.

AHA! I figured it out. Under settings for the display I had it at 150%. It was not only increasing text (what I wanted for these aging eyes), but was also increasing the image size.

Unfortunately that leaves me with Bear's advice that the image isn't sharp. ;) Oh well, c'est la vie. It wasn't an easy image to capture.

Oh wait. Now the PS image is also even smaller. I'm back to the same problem but just at a smaller scale. Doh!

Playing musical shrinky-dinks, eh?

I'm pretty rusty at some of this...

In your preferences for Windows you can specify size of type for display somewhere, and that works without changing image sizes, so that aspect of the issue is fixable. But one thing's for sure; if you had your 1200-pixel image displaying at 13 inches physically, that's way magnified. On my 27" ViewSonic monitor 1200 px measures out to 11 inches... So PS had it right, for whatever that's worth.

What I don't understand is why suddenly PS is getting smaller?

Tsk. You've been in the water again, haven't you??

Haha. No. All dry. Truth is my hobbies had moved on and I haven't picked the camera up nearly as much. But an ACL tear during soccer has curbed me for a while post surgery and I thought I'd find something to do with my camera.

OW! No good can come from an ACL tear, just ask my poodle who has separated both of his! Well, whatever the reason, it's good to see you back!
On another topic, are you planning on shooting the 2017 eclipse? I have a friend who will be shooting near Madras, and my nephew is in Seattle. I was thinking of shooting from near Tetons, but I'll be discussing w. my bud, and perhaps I will join the OR party...

Why is it that I now have a sudden urge to start reassuring people around here with "Seriously, just ask kirbic's poodle"? ;-)

I was just talking about the eclipse last week. I have the days off work already. Tetons is an idea, but I suspect you risk cloud cover with a thunderstorm. I haven't looked hard enough at where the sun is in the sky. If it's high, then it doesn't really matter too much where you are as it will be difficult to take a picture with it interacting with the landscape. In that case you just want somewhere with a high probability of good weather. Albany is 40 minutes away and probably qualifies. :)

Hello dude, long time no sneeze

My first thought was that you were having the same issue I have been internally grumbling about. So-called retina displays cause PS to display images smaller. So when I size down an image, it looks much smaller than I am used to viewing 1200 ppi on the web. My issue is with a a 27in. imac retina.
