I have about 48 hours in Iceland until I leave for Amsterdam.

I'm staying with a friend in Reykjavik, but I want to get a great shot before I leave.

I have no car, but willing to spend up to 20.000isk to get around.

What should I do?

A Golden Circle tour is about the best thing you can do with one day. (Plenty of other operators do it as well.) The off-the-beaten-path types may scoff, but it's definitely the best use of your time for one day without a car.

But perhaps others have better suggestions.

Go outside wherever you are staying, look around, breath deeply and take that shot, you can do it.

Considering how well images from Iceland do on this site, just take a shot of anything there it should ribbon. :) Even an outhouse.

Go and get a nekkid girl, put her in a fur coat and fur hat, plop her in the middle of a highway going nowhere with the northern lights behind her. Maybe a shack in the distance? Oh and a surly look on her face - hands on hips. Really shouldn't be too difficult. See you on the front page.

He'd have to work around all of the other photographers and nekkid girls in fur coats and hats in the middle of the highways going nowhere under the northern lights with a shack in the background.

Aww, you can fill up a couple of memory cards going from Keflavik airport to Reykjavik
what with all the lava flows and sinks. You can get a couple more full cards from the amazing Reykjavik
and then a short trip to Thingvellir
and/or Vik in the other direction should give you a 'few' more shots.

no matter what you do, you will want to return.

No ideas about Reykjavik, but you're lucky. The rain just left Amsterdam.
