I can't understand these scores. How can you get them?

ETA: ok, I got them. Participants were obviously all masters :)

Somewhat skewed by "masters" who voted and didn't participate.

And vice versa

I'm ok with a masters challenge but to single out the votes by masters...really? Note to self - don't vote on challenges I'm not qualified to shoot in!

Sorry -- didn't mean to cause any trouble. I just thought it would be interesting to see the results this way. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

How many times did you think you could separate yourselfes from the herd before you heard from the herd?

I think Wendy would agree that you are qualified to vote every challenge, and your vote is appreciated. Some of us are just fascinated by how different people react to different images. Some of us (me included) like to look at the voting data and see what nuggets of information we can coax from it -- the shape of the histogram, the participant vs. non-participant score, the commenters' average vs. the overall average, etc. For some of us the data is interesting. For others not so much. I think this was just a bit if information we don't normally get that Wendy found interesting, and she wanted to share it with other folks obsessed interested in looking at scoring data.

I found it interesting. While the ranking of participants' scores were different, they were pretty similar.

Or snarky.

Interesting that all three ribbons in a Master's Free Study are birds.

This thread would be far more humorous if all of the images listed were the same picture of Justin Beiber.

I understand what you are saying and I see Wendy's point that she wasn't trying to upset anyone - you're not causing trouble it is just me. That being said Mark if this was out of interest I would think that there would be similar posts for free studies that showed the sorting of placements by the participants. So to do this only for a masters challenge and not any other challenge made me make the statement I made.

And so there is no misunderstanding I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and voting on the challenge. I think it was a great challenge to have.

I think the point is it's not every day we get to view a voting stat that specifically selects out multiple-ribbon winners. What I find interesting/revealing is that there doesn't seem to be much DIFFERENCE between the two categories. I find that heartening. Although of course there are mrw's that didn't enter and did vote, and probably mrw's that entered but didn't vote, as others have pointed out, so that whole pool's muddy anyway :-)

Still, I'm with Wendy and Mark: it was an interesting area for speculation. Others' mileage may vary :-)

Wendy my comment wasn't made to make you retract your original post and from reading the responses of other members they think it was interesting and a good exercise. You found it interesting to sort the challenge that way and I should have just moved on to the next forum.

I think it was good to see the difference and enjoy looking at all the post challenge stats!

An interesting observation is that the blue winning image received less tens then any other image in the top ten! Not sure if this has ever happened before?

I noticed that. Even more interesting is because of the nature of the photographs there was probably very little editing done.

Maybe. I still suspect fowl play.

From behind the scenes, I can see clearly that they ALL came in on a wing and a prayer...

You could have knocked me over with a feather, but I found it surprisingly rude that every ribbon winner chose to give us the bird ... :-)

Avg (participants): 6.3182
Avg (non-participants): 6.0619

I like looking at stats as well, the above is for my image, I got two ones as well, which was rare in this challenge, I don't think people like someone walking out of the frame, although a few commented that they did, still I didn't expect much, but the comments were nice.
