Hi,

New here at DPC and have really been enjoying getting know the site. How do I add multiple lenses to my Profile under Preferences?

1) When I attempt to use the "Add Lens" link, it deletes my default lens and replaces it.

2) Some of the lenses that I would like to list are not listed in the presets. How do I add a custom lens to the profile?

Thanks, and I look forward to participating more. Best regards!

Hi bside123!! Welcome to DPC.

Be aware that the site is behaving rather oddly at the moment, and this might be one of the quirks they're trying to work out. You seem to be doing things right. Adding a lens should not eliminate the default. However, if both lenses are appearing, you would highlight the one you want as default, and set it as such.

I'm not sure what the procedure is to add a lens that is not listed. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Looking forward to your work

Hi, and welcome!!

..

To add a new lens, look under help > Contact us - there you'll find an option to submit a request for equipment addition.

Having done this a few times, do be sure to include a link to an image of the lens you wish to have added.

..

Be sure to check the date on your camera, and read the Advanced editing rules (and the minimal/basic/expert ones if you're entering those challenges!).. And if you are unsure, just post a thread asking for someone to PM with on legality.

Above all else, have fun, and join in the forums chatter - we have quite a bit of good natured fun here.

Thanks all for the help so far. The site allowed me to add another camera. First problem solved.

I have submitted one lens for review already, included a pic. Hopefully it will be added to the data base. It seems like everything else is up a running.

As an early test, I've only added a handful of photos to my portfolio. Haven't even begun to consider which images to seriously upload from my work just yet. The current photo are Just some random, diverse images in order for me to get a feel for the tech process.

I've entered one photo to the current Grain VI Challenge, and I've registered as a Full Member for One Year. Guess we're good to go....

Thanks again and best regards.

Yay! You're on your way. Just remember that anything you upload that isn't part of a challenge goes towards your storage limit. The bigger the images, the less you'll be able to store here. Challenge entries aren't included in the storage limit.

Also, if you do join the banter in the forums, especially the ongoing challenge threads, make sure you don't post anything regarding specific images and/or comments, which might make an image or commentor recognizable.

Thanks for your help and encouragement. Could you please explain what you mean a bit further? Are you cautioning me to be careful with criticism... or to be careful identifying myself?

Thanks and best regards.

neither ... the idea is to not discuss photos which are currently being voted-on, so as to avoid influencing the voting behavior of others.

"There are some great pictures in the ____ challenge" is OK ...

"I really like the picture of the ______ ..." is not ... nor is

"I'm so disappointed/glad there are so many pictures of ____ ..."

... and so on ... there is almost always a thread running where people post the score (but not the title) of their current entry/entries, but that's really all the discussion should be limited to until the voting is over -- then feel free to comment as much as you want ... :-)

if you can say anything identifying about a specific image or persons image including yours - thats pretty much a no go. Use your judgement beyond that more or less?

have fun
