Some of those are just painfully sad. Interesting collection - all taken by robot cameras, yes? Wonder how they got into places like a zoo and Seaworld? |

Google Streetview has multiple platforms.
Car, Trike, Trolley, Snowmobile, and Trekker so far, but I'm sure they're exploring new platforms... |

Quite a remarkable collection. The raw power of these images is seldom seen these days. |

The remarkable aspect for me is that not concious composing of images BY a photographer created these images but the pure power of quantitizing images and places trhoughout the time and space!
The project of streetview being initiated by a huge company for me borders the limits of photography, both technically and morally. The twist comes when somebody actually takes the time to look through this public collective memory, a kind of internet archive, and makes a selection of images to create social commentary which goes beyond the pure aim of documentation.
I go as far as saying that a big part of dealing with imagary in the future will come from working with visual material found on internet archives such as social networks.
Thus I wouldn't protest if this guy received a world press photo award for this collection! ;) |
