On the "Photography discussion" page I asked for help to consider which pictures I should exhibit this year.

Out of 246 views only 15 took the time to comment. Is my stuff so bad it's not even worth a quick comment?

Hit me with it guys, because as much as I'm grateful to the 15 who praised my work, if the other 231 don't think it's worth a mention then I might as well cancel the exhibition and save myself some money, in case the general public think the same!

Thanks again.

Well, just a couple of thoughts...

Isn't it possible that some of the 246 were multiple hits from the same 15 people who have commented? Granted, I doubt you had 15 people jumping in and out of the site some 15 times each...

Isn't it also possible that you have other people looking at the pics too?

How about yourself? Have you been in looking at the site? Does it count your own hits?

Most importantly, while I value the thoughts of many of the people on this site as well -- ultmiately you have to tell yourself, "Who the %$^&% cares what they think." Do you like your work? Do you think it's worthy of an exhibition? Just because people aren't giving you the feedback you want (a constantly reoccuring theme here) doesn't mean your stuff isn't any good.

For that matter -- count your blessings that at least 15 people out of this radically diverse group like your stuff... ;-)

I`m one of the 231. And i did start looking at some of your pics, and they are all very good compared to what i do. But there is a lot of them and i hardly get time to score the challenges.
I think alot of people like to read the posts but just don`t have the time to follow up every post.
I do like reading your posts mark because you like a good rant. I also live in the uk and have seen your stuff and e mails in photography magazines and can tell you are very passionate about photography. Sometimes i think you could do with a chill pill.
All the best. Marbo

Mark,
I popped over a couple of days ago for a quick look, but there were so many photos I didn't have time even to look at them all, much less give you any feedback I'd want you to rely on in picking photos for an exhibition. I was going to try and go back when I had some time to give them a more thorough look-see, especially since I like the site (and prices) where you have them posted.
I'd suggest collecting 2-3 times the number of photos you'll be allowed to exhibit (the one's YOU think are best) into a separate gallery, and let people narrow the field for you from there.
Also, I would have put the feedback in the forum you initially created, probably not on the gallery website...
As they say in samurai movies (at least in the subtitles) "Buck up, it doesn't look fatal!"

Don`t you worry, you`ll have a ribbon soon enough.
As for me i`ve wiped the floor of the 601z users and moving on to 602.

Thanks Mark. You're 83 miles away from me. Might pop over to you this summer for a chinwag and a cup o' tea.

Knocking off now, (yawn)

I didn't see your post, and wasn't one of the visitors. But I assume you are referring to a pbase site. All I can add is that eveytime I add a new gallery, incl family photos, I will get 50-100 hits on the gallery within the first hour - long before family or friends visit.
I have concluded that there are a number of people who look at the new gallery page in pbase, and just take a look for the heck of it.
