i was using my 5d tonight and i don't use live views with autofocus hardly at all. i know in the past i hit the af-on button to autofocus, but tonight it flipped the mirror down, not sure why, everytime i pressed the button the mirror flipped back down the back up. no image was taken.

i dont why what it was doing or why it was doing it or how to get my autofocus back in live view.

any ideas?

To me, it sounds like some setting were possibly switched. I would try checking your custom functions. As well as all camera settings. I recently freaked out, not being able to change f stop during a shoot. I somehow managed to flip the lock switch. Which I never use, go figure...
But yeah, relax and work out the settings. It may be as simple as a wrong assigned button.
