I saw some discussion about a 'black paper cut-out' for a shadow within a recent discussion thread while Shadows was still in voting and some feedback stating the belief that I used paper for the shadow. Now that rollover has happened I wanted to share exactly how I did it.

Going back to Your Shadow II challenge I drew inspiration from GIS_boy's The Caped Crusader Within . The way I cast the shadow was from a pattern I drew and then cut out on sheer black fabric. When lain down on the driveway in the morning light it appeared more solid black which may have lead to the confusion. Here is a shot of the 'shadow' shortly after the sun peeked up over the neighbor's roof so the lighting had changed slightly from when I took the shot for the challenge.

Thanks for sharing. It is a pity that some folks decided to drop some 1 bombs on such a lovely and creative take on the challenge.

cute idea. just a thought... might want to add a slight bit of blur to the shadow or lighten it slightly if you do this again... because without a direct light source visible or even implied, my eye doesn't expect a shadow to be quite that well-defined. (didn't vote btw)

+1 ....... I didn't vote, either, but that is what popped into my head right away: Too precise, too dark; needs to be diffused a LOT to match.

LOVELY idea, nevertheless!

Thanks for the helpful feedback, I appreciate it. Indeed this little shadow may yet return when the time is right:-)
