This morning I wandered down to the venues for one part of our BIG Weekend coming up. Not only is the America's Cup race on, but Fleet Week is here, the 2 area WINNING baseball teams are playing and the 49ers Football team is on the field, locally. Oh, yes. there is a BlueGrass Music Festival taking over most of Golden Gate Park. What a preamble.

Nothing was stirring at the waterfront today at around noon, except for event organizers.
Here are a few shots at Marina Green, where we can watch the races - accessibility is not guaranteed after today:
......

Ah HA - over at the other side of the Bay Bridge, we begin to find some action. Or at least some crafts at the mooring area.
Pier 30-32 has some beautiful boats (crafts, ships?) that act as slender foils to the USS Makin Island, Amphibious Assault Carrier in town for Fleet Week, in the background.
.........

in this snug harbor, it was easy to take portraits of some of the craft:
............
Some of the racing craft were not berthed here (the New Zealanders & Australians among them!), and there's a kerfuffle about that. (aside, I tried to find the alternate berthing facilities, but was unsuccessful)

So, how to get to one's racing craft? Well:
take a little dinghy,

or, do as the Emirates did, climb aboard and wander off ... ...

Okay, that's my show and tell today.

these were all taken with the 70-300 and are unedited after being converted from RAW

Oh, what the heck. This slipped by pretty quickly, so one small bump.
I tried to get to the other side of town where the action was today, but my little Prius was no match for the "road closed" signs.

It's an exhilarating weekend in San Francisco, for sure. Sticking with the America's Cup, I found the world feed (go to the top) for the races. The Semi-finals just concluded, No, I'm not going to tell you the results. I keep using the word "amazing" for these races. I hope this link works for you, because, it's well, amazing photography.

And no, my old bones didn't make it to the scene. Besides I had a gallery opening to attend to today, and yes, tomorrow as well.

In other news, (shriek!!!) truly, Bear_Music, you coming this way next month! Jumping for joy, young feller. And Penny too??? Oh, I can hardly wait.
