My left eye was functionally destroyed in a youthful misadventure....

So, the right eye it is. :)

Are you comparing the results of your survey with photo style to see which side of the brain we are using to compose the shot? (just joking)

i'm seeing how many people have the smudgy breathy lcd screen problem

Both eyes open, it works like a charm.

yes, what ziggy said, when I am trying to manual focus on a rapidly flying object. with the right eye the lcd gets smeared anyway. I miss my pany fz10 which had the evf at the left side instead of smack in the middle.

My right Eye! My Left eye was damaged at birth and doesn't focus!

I'm right handed, left eye dominant. Can be a PITA

I can't see out of my icd screen.

I never use the viewfinder, I don't like having my vision cut down like that. Don't always use the LCD either, even though it tilts/swivels it's often not enough for a good view. My camera often finds odd angles for itself & I am often wiggling it for camera-motion blur. Don't look for me on the front page!

[eta] Just think how cool would it be if we could have bluetooth adapters for our glasses that let us see thru the lens. Of course, they'd come with special binocular lenses for the camera.

Thats what I do too. Usually with my left eye looking trough the viewfinder. I do have to squint if I'm lying on the ground and creening my neck to look through, I don't know why that is.

Right handed, left eyed. Except for sports or bird on the wing shots; then right eye in the viewfinder, left eye open to see what is outside the frame.

I use my left eye, which means I keep pressing buttons with my nose. It's a pain in the butt.

Right Handed, Left Eye, Right Eye Closed. I try to use my right eye and then track the subject with my left but I just get dizzy and fall down.

Acquiring small/fast birds in flight, both eyes are open. Once acquired, the left eye is closed.
Generally though, I keep the left closed.

For me, it really depends on the situation. Sometimes both eyes opened is a safer route.
As it may let you see that taxi, that just jumped the curb. Or that crazy guy, coming your way.
Or just another photo opportunity...

does it seem like most people who are right handed use their left eye? or are the left eye guys just posting more that they're right handed
07/23/2012 07:52:46 PM · #23
I'm predominantly right handed for most activities, but I use my right eye to use my view finder.

I'm predominantly right eyed, and right handed. I do tend to use my right eye, but I can switch easily to left when needed. I should also add, many times when shooting dynamic scenes, I'll have my right eye in the view finder and my left will be scanning around the outside.
