I had too many to pick from this time around it was tough, I even had to narrow it down to decide which few I'd put serious work into so these are all largely unedited...

I had a trip to Hawaii and a snowshoeing trip and was sure I was going to use one of my Hawaii shots, but the one I picked kept standing out...

Well I only had one photo session in the month of February, which was a dress rehearsal of Pirates of Penzance. So the on the 28th I went and shot some architecture.

But a disappointing 54% finish (5.86) with this one:

This is what I was going to submit before I went out for the last session:

two other alternates:

I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Matthew--you had a lot of great choices...I'd say you picked right. I do also really like the lighthouse pic, so that would have been good too.

Here's what I really wanted to enter, but I was advised against it. I got a couple questions wondering why he was upside-down, which clinched it for me. By the way, he's upside-down because he just came out of his cocoon. I will admit that while I still prefer the outtake it sure is nice to have some green in my top 5. My top 5 hasn't budged in almost two years! Feels good...

Pretty happy with my entry and my finish. The original was looking pretty good, but I thought it looked much more dramatic when I flipped it vertically.

I got the shot at the Bend, Oregon Winterfest, where the Freestyle MX group Metal Mulisha were performing. I had a Canon 70-200 2.8L II IS USM that I rented for the trip - it was AWESOME for these shots. Here's some more...

Changed my mind at the last minute to submit the b&w crop of Ypsilon, rather than the color wider angle of the mountains. For an 800 pixel competition, grand landscapes suffer.

I had a good day of shooting these Northern Harriers in the marshes just north of Atlantic City NJ at the Forsythe Wildlife Refuge. There is an 8 mile driving trail that leads you along the salt water marsh and has Absecon Bay on the other side of it. You will also go through woodlands and pass by some fresh water ponds where numerous varieties of ducks can be found.

Really pleased with the comments and my new PB score.

Outakes

Really wanted to enter this. Aggressive crop and sharpness issues, although not bad at this size and may have scored well.

Another:

Wouldn't have entered this because of the background, but I do love it from a personal view.
