The only problem is, she doesn't want me to spend it in an ungodly way. Don't think that'll work, unfortunately...

-----

GREETINGS TO YOU FRIEND:
My name is Mrs. Julienne Veldhuisen; I am a dying woman who has decided to give out/ donate what I have to you/church.
I am 50 years of age, I live in Chicago Illinois USA and I was diagnosed for cancer for about 2 years ago immediately after the death of my husband who has left me everything he worked for. I have been touched to donate from what I have inherited from my late husband to you for the good work of humanity, rather than allow my relatives to use my husband hard earned funds ungodly.
I will be going in for an operation in less than a month and I decided to WILL/donate the sum of (Β£) 2,500,000.00 GBP, Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Great Britain Pounds Sterling; to you for the good work of the humanity, and also to help the motherless and less privilege and also for the assistance of widows.
At the moment I can take your telephone calls right now if you really curious and want to speak with me direct about the subject matter. I have adjusted my WILL and my lawyer is aware that I have changed my WILL. If you are a Goodly person, please reply or call me immediately you receive my mail and I will forward you my lawyers contact information in United Kingdom, he will arrange the transfer of the funds from my account in UK to your preferred account. I wish you all the best and may the good Lord bless you abundantly, and PLEASE use the funds wise, well and always extend the good work to others. Finally, to resolve your curiosity why am donating this fund to a stranger whom I have never met, my decision came as a definite one when I saw that all my husband relatives will use the proceeds for ungodly acts, already they have benefited from my husband WILL and they are using it in their lavishing and extravagant way because my husband and I had no children of our own. I will not give away this huge sum of Money to them or our pets when I know it can solve people’s problem out there. I really wish you can assist me embark on this project?
Good luck in all your future Endeavour's! , my email: julienneyvonne@live.com
Thanks,
Julienne Veldhuisen.
Please reply me immediately with this mail: julienneyvonne@live.com

I'm sure you are truly deserving of this good fortune. I can't wait to get MY email!! Seems like these things pop up all the time. It's a little bit interesting to see what little differences there are from one scam to another.

For many years all has been quiet on the PM.

I have been off the grid of the spammer's radar.

No more. They have found me.

(Hmmm, the above description sounds like it could be the opening of a TV show;-P )

I too got this PM.

God, the sad thing is there wouldn't be so much of these if they didn't actually work on some poor sap some of the time....

Good news! I talked to Julienne and she said that as long as you tithe 10% of it to me, you can do what you want with the rest. Send me your bank account information so I can transfer the funds to my account.

Heard on the radio the other day that scams like this raked in approximately - are you sitting down? - $700 MILLION last year. I am assuming that's on a global scale. So sadly yes, there are suckers out there willing to buy the Nigerian prince/dying widow/orphanages stories...

One of the saddest cases I heard about, firsthand, was an elderly woman who was taken by a lottery scam for $38k CDN. What makes this one exceptionally tragic was the fact that her son (my prof), a PI specializing in fraud, constantly warned her to be careful about such scams....*sigh*

419 scams are big big business. They've been around for longer than email and the internet (they used to send old-fashioned letters to rich businessmen with similar proposals)

The scammers themselves aren't viewed as criminals in their own countries, but get respect because they've obtained all their wealth using 'clever' methods.

And it's not just about stealing money from old ladies. Things get dangerous too. Victims have flown out to meet them at airports and get kidnapped or murdered when things go wrong.

So don't mess with Julie. Hell hath no fury like a scammer scorned.

HOW TO REPORT A SCAM LETTER
What to do if you receive a scam letter

Lottery, Sweepstakes, contest winning notifications • Employment offers to process checks, money orders, wired funds • Employment offers to reship merchandise • Inheritance • Next of kin • Zimbabwe farmer • Princess • Offers to buy advertised products • Romance • Charity • Transfer money to another country • US Soldier • Reimburse money lost in a scam • Foreign currency exchange (FOREX) • Small investment for large, short term return • Green Card • Stranded traveler • Foreign orphanage • Money owed to you from a foreign contract or invoice • Unclaimed funds in a foreign account • Foreign investor • Overpayment for product, services, rental, hotel room, bed & breakfast • Threat of assassination, rape, or harm to family • Loan from a Canadian or other foreign lender requiring advance fees • the list is nearly endless.

Many people merely delete scam emails or forward them to friends to share a laugh. That would be fine if everyone thought the letters laughable. The truth is that people in desperate financial situations will cling to even the most outrageous source of hope for relief.

As I pointed out in on the previous page, it is an accumulation of evidence that gives law enforcement the edge.

At one time the US Secret Service ran what was called the Nigerian 419 Task Force. After 9-11 that Task Force was dissolved and the Secret Service became a division of Homeland Security. The Secret Service maintained the address for scam email reports for several years after that, but now the address no longer exists.

In response to this, Fraud Aid has developed an extensive program to accept all scam emails.

The information culled from the emails is gathered and analyzed. Qualified information is forwarded to enforcement agencies and service providers worldwide.
