Getting slammed. I guess I needed to beat people over the head with how long the exposure was.

Very nice job folks. I ended with an average of 6.28. So many spectacular shots, it's hard to pick favorite entries in this one.

I come down from the 6.9 at 10 votes, but not complaining. They always come down hard after a stellar beginning.

From what I've seen from looking at old challenges, to even have a shot at a ribbon you need to be above about a 6?
Oh well, it's just as fun voting on other challenges as it is submitting my own!

Hi and welcome. Don't be long in the face over a 5.5. Especially at this stage in the voting. Generally the scores fluctuate radically until they get over 100 votes. Furthermore, 5.5 isn't bad at all for a first challenge. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

As Juli said, 5.5 isn't bad. It's average on a 1-10 scale, and I have always thought that scoring average at DPC is like having an above average image since we have a pretty solid group of critics.

To be in ribbon territory, you will certainly need to be above 6, and more likely near 7. Of course, this depends on the challenge. Some have very "low" scoring top finishers, some very high.

Hello again and thank you for the warm welcome! I know it's off topic, but I thought I'd share another thought I had. At first when I saw that in order to get the full experience of dpchallenge, you had to pay, I was turned off. Especially since there is really nothing much in the way of prizes for your "investment". Then I looked a bit at the quality of work and the overall kind hearted nature of this place and decided it is something I would proudly support. It is simply too rare these days to be in the company of mature like minded photographers creating art for the sake of creating art.
So thanks again and wish me luck! lol

And the very small investment supports such an amazingly well designed website. The stats alone are an awesome accomplishment, and such beautifully easy navigation, not to mention the portfolio space. It!s hard to find elsewhere, and a real bargain.

How can this be? Did you put a stop action in the long exposure challenge?
