Thank you, its one of my favorite woods. :)

I'm not sure you should call it "molting" when it peels like that pretty much all the time, at least those that grow in northern California. The new orange bark looks a little less saturated than I'd make it myself.

If you ever have a chance to use any for firewood, you'll find it makes beautiful, dense, hot-burning coals. The ripe berries are (barely) edible, too; they were usually dried and ground into a meal.
