I wonder if this is a glitch or a change? Since we've been having a lot of special challenges that roll over Thursday/Friday perhaps it is intentional?

Could be intentional, as the open challenges have had such limited participation lately.

I don't mind it, it will be fun to have just one challenge. The entries should be really high for this one. Considering the subject and that there is only one to choose from.

makes it easier to choose only one i guess

It's getting harder to find any flowers out here. It's the tail end of Autumn, and what might have been okay yesterday isn't today because the weather is dirty.

I felt a flower challenge was coming up, have a few left in the garden, but it's nearing Winter now, so I guess those in Spring land will fare well.

Our spring is cold and wet the flowers are a bit late showing, I hope to find something good.

No flowers for me, unless I find one with a really nice bug on it. I may go out with Ellen to shoot for it however. She loves floral shots and I suggested she enter this one.

The "experiment" that started back in September 2005 is now over. :-)

As DPChallenge continues to grow, so do the number of weekly challenge entries. Open challenges routinely draw 400 or more entries a week, and many have reported that they find it difficult to vote and to comment meaningfully on that many entries.

We believe that the existence of a weekly free challenge is beneficial to DPChallenge and the community as a whole. As such, we feel it is important to keep the Open challenge useful and relevant to all users. To help do this, we are looking at ways we can meet the seemingly conflicting goals of keeping the challenges manageable in size, while still keeping them open to all who wish to participate. For the remainder of the month, we will be experimenting with one of those options.

Through the end of September, we will be running two Open Challenges per week; however, you will only be able to enter one of those challenges each week. You may choose which challenge you prefer. This experiment only affects the Open Challenges. Members may enter any and all Member challenges available.

Please note that this is only an experiment, and one of many options we could ultimately use to control the Open challenge sizes. As always, we welcome your feedback on this experiment, and we especially welcome your constructive suggestions for improvement.

Awww... I'm disappointed in you!! I thought you'd at try it and see what you're missing. Try hiding a guy with a big mustache in a field of flowers. :P

I think you are right, since the main page no longer reads "Exclusive open challenges" and just lists it with the others. Myself, I'm pleased to trade that choice for the special challenges we seem to be getting more of lately.

I love it if it's true that now we get one on Tues and one on Thurs... and we can enter both, in addition to the Sunday challenge.

Life is good!
