We'll be spending Thanksgiving week (Nov 20-27) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Any DPCers there that want to get together? Or any suggestions for photo ops?

Dave,
I just came from there lol
Ok, here are my suggestions to do if you have the time.
Hit the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse close to sunset. You will not regret it. ITs a bit of a drive, but its very nice.
Go to the Camuy Caverns. Make sure to bring a tripod. You will have plenty of nice shots to take there.
Also the Arecibo Radar is a great site. You will need a wide angle close to a fisheye to grab it all. It was in that movie GoldenEye.
Personally I think most of the pretty sites are outside of San Juan, but you can still manage to get good shots in san Juan at:
Anything in Ponce will be beautiful.
El Morro Fort (La Fortaleza)
Old San Juan.
Near El Morro there is a pretty garden, I think its called CAsa Blanca, but I am not sure.

| If your going to San Juan I don't know if your into it but there is a bar called El batey. They have been writting on the walls in there since before I was in high school. Great place to write on the wall and leave your mark there. Mostly though- El morro is right at the top of the hill. I strongly recommend it for some terrific photos. If you can brave it, the cobblestone streets are beautiful at night. Its pretty safe there. A couple of nice churches there too. Enjoy. |
