I was thinking today "why am I not encouraged yet to take more photos?". I kind of stopped taking photos. So, I went out, just to see what i can find between where I live and quarter mile down the road.

Any number of photos welcome but try to make it at least 5 :)

(This SC goes until the end of 2011)

Whoa, that's an interesting concept and a quirky set of images to go with it. Who needs Yosemite or Cape Cod?

Good one, Leo. I'll try to do "my street" sometime soon.

This sounds fun to me, I love the concept of turning seemingly ordinary things into extraordinary photos, by the angle or perspective or even the post processing. I have some extra time next week I will plan on posting some photos then.

Me too. Our office just moved, and I'm feeling lost.

Craft & Vision has a new book out, Close to Home, which is about taking pictures, well, close to home. Check it out.

I like the idea. I may do it at work during lunch one day. And with my P&S Lumix. Kill 2 side challenges at once.

Great idea, but since I don't have a car 90% of what I enter is taken on my street anyway and I don't want to tip my hand.

Then limit it to a particular, out-of-the-way corner of your street?

Was more of a joke. I'm not very funny though, so should have known better. I'm in.

I've pretty much been looking for an excuse to do exactly this. I'll post as I go. I live in an interesting older town with lots of suject material.

Great idea, would give me an excuse to start taking walks at lunchtime :-)

Interesting idea! I have a very uninteresting street, so it will be a challenge to look at it with kinder, more creative eyes. But I'll try to post.

Here's my set

All taken on my street, within a single block, today.

This sounds like a great idea. I'd better get out there today coz it's not raining.

Instead of my street, I found something even more boring and colorless to try and get interesting shots from. The parking garage at work. I also did it with my P&S, since I need material for that side challenge as well.

Thanks. It was a fun exercise in seeing things in a different way. I'm starting to like the abstracty stuff. That's probably an indicator that my challenge averages are getting ready to take a nosedive.

I just might have to try my hand at this one.

Really like this idea Leo. Excellent. I'll spend a week or so collecting a set from my street as well.

Went out yesterday afternoon, after working in the garden of the High school the whole morning. When I thouht about this challenge through the week, I wanted to concentrate on man-made objects, but when I looked at the pictures downloaded from the camera, lo and behold, just about all were of nature. Go figure. Much more difficult than I thought.

When this first came up I went out and took my photos, all within 15 to 20 minutes, all in my street and within two blocks from my house. Then for some reason I neglected to post them, so here they are.

Two out ... Two in

Hospitals shot from one side of the street... Cemetery shot from the other side of the street about 200 metres (or yards) along.

.... Some garden stuff.

. Some birds... and the postie.
