Obama just gave his speech about ending "combat missions" in Iraq. Weather you're a U.S citizen or not, I'm sure this will be an interesting discussion for all.

Thanks cowboy for your service, honor, and sacrifice.

I think what Obama said about the surge in 2008 is far more telling than his claiming personal victory today.

From my understanding, the announcement was ending combat, but 50,000 troops will remain in a supportive, and training role. This is something that has to happen eventually.

But, I also understand that Obama didn't claim this as a personal victory, just a promise kept. He didnt have a "mission accomplished" banner behind him.

Yeah, I used to like him but now I think he's been bought out.

Bush used that one (the mission accomplished banner) already. ;o)

I must not be getting this... My brother who has ALREADY been to Iraq for over a year, is now going back. Now I understand that Operation Iraqi Freedom is over but Operation New Dawn is now in session. Same damn thing in my opinion. Bring my brother back to his wife and soon to be child! He has a kid to raise! Geez! Now I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to politics so I wont even try to outsmart people here and say Obama is an idiot but from what I have gathered he is an idiot. Thank you.. That is all! :P

Q: How do you tell if a politician is lying?

A: Their lips are moving.

That region has been at war for thousands of years. What makes you think we are going to stop that?

I would like to thank the President for not interrupting any of my favourite TV shows with his speech. Bush was always interrupting Survivor, that ass.

we never left japan and germany; we are still in korea. these invasions and occupations for oil and empire cooked up by the ideologue neoCONS will never end. the criminal war profiteers haliburton, blackwater et al will keep neoCON puppets like obama in line. permanent war is their goal and they are very very good at getting their way. our system is broken with the supreme court leading the charge (see citizens united case) and all we get is propaganda from fox (aka pravda) and hate radio - the rest of mainstream media toes the line as well - hell the new york times pounded the war drums louder than anyone (see judith miller scandal). this is what the end of an empire looks like. just send our unemployed kids to slaughter so we can plunder the remaining resources worldwide. and of course be sure to torture in the name of our people while hiding behind a cross and a flag. we never voted for empire. and we never declare war constitutionally anymore. very sad. worry about our kids and their kids.
