I have a Windows 7 desktop and a MAC laptop.

The Windows 7 machine is connected to the Airport Extreme via an Ethernet cable (no wireless card) and the laptop is wireless. I have three hard drives connected to the airport extreme.

The laptop has no issues seeing the router and connecting to the hard drives.

On the Windows 7 machine I have to re-update the router via the Airport Utility almost every time I want to connect to the hard drives. If I don't do the update I can only connect to the internet but get an error (can't find network) when trying to map a network drive.

The airport extreme is not visible as part of the network either (most of the time).

No firewall settings are changed prior to reinitializing the wireless router (airport extreme) so it's not a firewall issue. I might just get a wireless card for the PC to see if that solves the flaky behaviour.

Anyone else have similar issues or ideas for solving it?

I only use Mac, but have you installed Bonjour services on the Windows 7 machine?

Is the error you're getting a '651 error'?
If it is, then you're not alone. I was having connection problems with my PC with win7, kept getting that error. Googled it, and found all kinds of discussions on the problem. It's some kind of problem in win7, anyways, there was lots of suggestions for possible fixes. I don't have any links, but if its a 651 error, just google it.

I haven't noticed an error code. I get a message saying Win 7 can't find the network address when trying to map a network drive.

Yes, Bonjour service is installed.

Once the Airport Exteme is recycled I can map the drives attached to it.... until the next time I start up the Win 7 machine.

Only once did the Airport Extreme show up in the Network. When it did, connecting to it was easy peasy. However most of the time it doesn't show as a device on the network.

Just to be clear, I've always had a connection to the internet. That's not the problem. The problem is with connecting to the hard drives and printer connected to the airport extreme. From what I'm reading error 651 is for no internet access.

The course has been established almost 5 years and has been successfully helping students find jobs in airports worldwide ever since. The knowledge that you gain during this course will give you the confidence to take on any interview situation.
