First off, I am really really happy with my finish in Door Knobs and Locks etc. :D!
I did receive a comment about the tight crop at the top of the image which I did on purpose to remove a window sill from the frame because I thought it would be distracting. Now that I have gone back and looked at the alternate crop I wonder if it would have worked as well or better with the sill in the frame... or did I made the right choice ;)

What do you guys think, the entered image?


Or including the white sill?

In my opinion the one you entered was exactly the way to go.

I liked the one u posted (gave u a decent score) but I think the one with the sill gives it a more complete look.. just imho

Either way you would have gotten a comment about the sill or the chopped trim ring around the knob. Because the sill dips below the line of the trim ring, it would be problem with a tight crop.

Don't you hate it when you try to do something for DPC and then find you were wrong.

Wait for some more feedback before I decide I did that but, hahaha.

I like the sill. Reason being, you can see the entire circle of the escutcheon around the handle.

I like the way the sill curves up out of the way of the escutcheon. Having one of the major elements in a composition run off the edge of the frame is worse than having something dip into and out of the frame for me. Grats on the top ten.

The more I look at them the more I think the second one is much better LOL

This was a tough one. But I think I came up with a crop that really strengthens this shot. Give this a try and see what you think. Crop in from the right to about the middle of the nail. Crop down just past the middle of the brass handle. The handle becomes an abstract element that echos the curve of the lock.

I agree that it's very tight, but I like the one you entered. After all, the handle isn't the main subject, the lock is, and I find the sill distracting.
