If it doesn't start with an A...then it wouldn't be put in this challenge. The challenge states...photograph something starting with A....so therefore...people generally wouldn't be entering something that doesn't start with A.

Sheez!!!!!

Gee Judi...you're such an Angel...lol

Yup...and my score is sinking into the depths of hell!

IMHO it will be hard voting and defineing the difference between a subject and a meaning. I do not beleive Action, Adorable, adrenalin, ECT as subjects, to me these are meanings we apply to something. You cannot photograph adorable, you need a subject which then becomes Model, Girl, Dog, cat, if you say isn't she adorable this is a meaning.????

Brian, you are normally quite logical, but this time you are off base. I also think that stating the actual titles of images used in this challenge is going to get you in some hot water with the SC. For the meeting the challenge theme, as Prash noticed when he looked it up in the dictionary, a subject actually can be something other than a physical being. ie a "scene" or a "thought". If you do not care for that I suggest your write the dictionary people and either obstain from voting at all, or skip voting on non-physical interpretations. Just because your definition of something is incorrect does not mean you should punish the photographers that took the time to check it out before they created thier entries.

Oh and if someone has an entry that depicts "mathamatics" or "religion" do they get scored low as well? I think I was taught both of those "subjects" in school. Or perhaps the school board was wrong because they are a concept or a theory as opposed to being something in a physical form?

If this is directed at me Judi, yes I did complete preschool.

Over 5 years on DPC I have been hit with so many DNMC, that the photographic thinking seems to change with every challenge. so now we can photograph a meaning as a subject??????

I apologise if I have seen this in the wrong way, and no harm was intentional.

I am abstaining from voting on this challenge. EDIT

Hahahaha...you crack me up. My post was NOT aimed at any one individual...but in general to all the people that are giving the 'not relevant' type of comment!

The reason I don't think stuff like adorable etc works is because it is subjective... (no pun intended) so you are taking your chances if you use something like that and people are voting based on how well it meets challenge and they disagree.

Of course I have come to realize that anything out of the ordinary I enter on DPC I'm taking a chance...

We should be optimistic. Generally, trolls are the first ones out to wreak love:-)

A is for Attitude
Confusion between 'subject' and 'object'.
An object is more likely to be a physical item, whereas a subject can be almost anything - a concept - an abstract - a notion - a name - an activity - or an object.
If you are handing out low scores because you think the subject of the photograph is not an 'object' then please identify yourself by putting DNMC in the comments box and then we'll all know who you are. If you don't have the confidence to do that, then please reconsider your voting attitude.

I would like that in every challenge -- if you're voting low because you don't think it meets the challenge, please tell us. It's nice to know a low vote is because of challenge relatability (new word) vs the photo just sucks.
