The other day I saw a show where they showed pictures of New Zealand. It was breath taking. I was wondering what the most beautiful place I had ever seen in the USA was. I have never traveled abroad. I have seen parts of Arizona and it was beautiful. The rolling green hills of Oklahoma were great. Of course Ohio is beautiful. Ive been through Texas at one time with its wide open spaces which were nice to. I can't put my finger on "the most" beautiful place though. Can you?

What do you think is the most beautiful place you have ever been to in the USA is and if can show a picture and tell why or about the picture that would be nice to.

I was born and raised in Western Colorado so I am biased but I have never seen a more beautiful place than the Rocky Mountains. I love it here. The Maroon Bells south of Aspen are breathtaking. But, in reality I don't think you could pick just one place.

I thought one of the most interesting places was Arches in Utah. But I wouldn't call it the most beautiful.

When I think of the most beautiful, I think of the four parks in the Canadian Rockies. But that doesn't count.

So I guess grand canyon, Colorado rockies, or some of the little gorges around Ithaca, New York.

I need to see more of the wonderful country in which I live, but I am kind of partial to the Adirondacks myself.

I'm a little partial to Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. ;-)

For me probably the single most beautiful stretch in America is the Big Sur coast and up to Point Lobos just south of Carmel. And I've been just about everywhere in the lower 48. But it's a personal judgment, of course. Cape Cod is very beautiful as well, albeit in a much more subdued way.

I once flew into Boston, rented a convertible and then drove for five days with no plan or destination other than to return to Boston for the flight back home.

Kennebunkport Maine was beautiful but what sticks out in my mind was the Kangamangus Highway in New Hampshire. This route through the White Mountains of New Hampshire was incredibly beautiful. There were numerous gorges with rushing water, waterfalls, and trails leading to and through them. One rest stop resulted in a spontaneous decision to walk....and walk....and we ended up hiking for several hours and found ourselves coming out of the forest onto a rock outcropping with an amazing view of the valleys below.

I plan to go back and spend more than just one day in that area.

Last year I would have said the Grand Canyon. But earlier this year we visited Zion first thing in the morning after a fresh layer of snow and still snowing, other than a few park employees the park ours.
A couple from that day..

The Columbia River Gorge, between Oregon and Washington, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The vistas and falls along the river are amazing. A couple of examples are below.

Crown Point

Multnomah Falls

I love reading your stories and seeing the pictures. These are all beautiful places. I guess its not about just what the most beautiful place in America is but what you think it is and why. I love the story about flying to Boston for no reason and riding for days for no reason. Wonderful! I think Five_Seat got it right to. We all need to see more of the country we live in. In case we dont, pictures are the next best thing so keep posting! I love it!

There is no such place. There is so much breathtaking beauty on so many different levels. I've traveled around quite a bit, and have seen hundreds of places that at that moment I felt that there was no more beautiful place on earth......'til the next place....

I'm fortunate enough to have places like this right around here where I live....

It's all beautiful!

In the 8 years that I lived in the US, I had the great fortune to go on many trips. I saw more of the States than most Americans ever do (THEIR words).
In response to your thread I tried once again to pick a favourite place, but I just can't do it.

There were sooooooooo many wonderful locations with awesome vistas, I simply can not pick ONE (or even several) that I like best.

All I know is that I would love to revisit nearly every one of them, plus see a few more.

Now I'm back to stupid koalas, kangaroos, gum trees and endless white beaches in blazing sunshine *sigh* ;-)

NikonJeb all I can say is wow. You are very fortunate I agree. Your waterfall shot is amazing. I dont know who would pick on it! Beetle you are funny. Here I am in envy of Sidney shots and you think they are boring. That is what this post is all about! I want to hear what you all think about where you have been and what is beautiful to you! I am simply in awe of some of the photos so far!

The most beautiful place in the states that i have viewed is Yellowstone National Park. But i have a lot of traveling to do yet. I suspect that Alaska may top it. :D

it may not offer much in traditional scenic beauty, but by far the most beautiful place i have been is key west, for it's unbelievable sunsets and it's old architecture, as much as for it's "island life" atmosphere.

The perception of beauty is a funny thing.....I happen to like trains, and snow, and this train thundering through a blizzard while I sat twenty five yards away from it at a railroad crossing to me was quite a beautiful sight. It was a moment for me....

I'm sure there are people out there who would think I'm nuts......8>)

Last August my girlfriend and I drove up the Pacific coast to the Redwood Forest before visiting my uncle in Mount Shasta. We also got to see Zion, Bryce, the Great Staircase and the Arches in Utah as well as White Sands in New Mexico. I thought they were all equally fantastic. I would love to make that road trip again.
