Currently, an image title uploaded to the gallery is set to the full filename of the image, including extension. It would be helpful if the extension was dropped, and the image title were set to the filename without the extension. This would save time on batch uploads; images would not have to be retitled in the portfolio.

Good one. I've been thinking about this for a while.

It reminds me of another thing. After we upload, could we have the date set to the day we uploaded the image as default instead of it being set to no data at all? Oh and our camera and lens too. We choose them as defaults in our profile but we always need to re-choose them again after we upload our images for a challenge or whatever.

We do? The defaults are sticky for challenges. Portfolio, that's different, and mildly annoying, agreed...

Or am I missing something?

I'm talking specifically about portfolio gallery, and I think Jac is too. As usual, my complaint is that it is user unfriendly.

I'm with you on that. I just hate how I have to upload everything one at a time, and populate every freaking data field one at a time, the more so because 90% of my work is with the same camera and lens, and even the same aperture, facripesake.

WE WANT STICKY!

(that better?)

Many sites will also pull the exif(if left intact) from the image and auto fill those. This suggestions has come and gone many times. I do like the other ideas, heck what a mighty trifecta if they could do them all at once huh. LOL

Mostly everything asked for in this thread has been added...
- EXIF is used for Aperture/ISO/Shutter/Exposure Date (if available)
- Exposure Date is defaulted to upload date if EXIF isn't available
- Camera/Lens defaults are used if they are set in your preferences (sorry, it would take a tremendous effort to pull this from EXIF)
- The default title will now be the filename without the extension

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

Edit: ...and thanks for the rest, of course (I just properly read the reply).

Fantastic! This will give me an extra 30 seconds or so to upload my last minute challenge entries! :-)

Excellent work.. I am sure you have a backlog a mile long, but this is a very good addition.. Thanks!

This is awesome. I just uploaded a couple of images and it was wonderful not having to edit the EXIF info. Thank you Langdon this is an awesome addition.

Agreed...worthy and useful modifications. Thanks for jumping on that Langdon.

My fear with this is that people who upload pictures and aren't in the habit of setting this, aren't going to notice -- and that lots of pictures will be attributed to the wrong camera. Not all of us have or use just one camera on a regular basis.

Just a thought. I'm more than thrilled with the EXIF updates...

Glad this was done before the DPL started.

Display of the camera and lens defaults have always been there, before this recent change to parse exposure information.
