Wasn't the first 8 days for the teams that were in it last year and then they will open it up to new teams? Or did that happen already? |

SC...where you at? This a question for you.
Are there going to be any kind of ribbons or awards for DPL winners this year? I think it would be nice to have something on each players profile for conference, Division, Overall winner of DPL. Last year the teams won and other than bragging rights (always a good thing), there was nothing to tell everyone I won DPL. |

who cares about winning a "giff" it's all about getting more out of the site for whole community, more people entering challenges and seeing some old faces returning.
The last DPL was almost 3 years ago and some of us have been waiting a long time for the return so lets just enjoy it and play for the fun of it. |

An award 'giff' I guess would be nice HOWEVER I am much more into this for the fun, learning and community camaraderie aspect - much more rewarding IMHO.
All those out there still on the ropes - COME ON IN register as a free agent or start another team!!!!!!!! More competition is always good:-) It will be fun and rewarding.

Since teams can have a minimum of 7 up to a maximum of 10 players with only the 4 highest percentiles (from 4 different players) counting toward the teams score *CAN* a captain start a team knowing he or she will not be able to participate? It shouldn't hurt the team or would it? |
hi SDW, I was a team member in DPL1 and hopefully I'll be in DPL2 when If someone pick me and I participated with a compact camera and my photos had a good effect on the team score and we ranked a very good place, and best scores I ever had in DPC were during the DPL1 and I learned alot through that season from the discussions with my team mates so I think if you don't have a camera, that this really worth buying one even a non-expensive compact camera. |

In the second case, if you were to drop 23 teams. How would you pick them? Randomly?, last 23 created?, last 23 finalized?, how?

The teams will be accepted in the order they were finalised

I think that the first 24 teams that were finalized are in for sure... it's the rest of us that will be out :( |

why can't all the teams play? |

I would rather see the season postponed (yes, I know) while 48 teams are finalized. Some on the free agent list may need to take up the reins and be captains. Captains may need to reach out directly to contact people who aren't on the free agent list and see if they can drum up participation. |

FWIW I agree!!! |

Why don't they just take all the players in the free agent pool and just randomly put them on a team? Then once they are on a team they can pick who wants to be captain. There really isn't much to being a captain!
Edit to add- I think maybe some people are just a little too nervous to take on being captain.

With all due respect, I oppose your first sentence. The faintest whisper of postponement could be counterproductive to the goal of finalizing 48 teams. Relaxing the sense of urgency and deadline would promote more procrastination, not less.
I would like to see 48 teams finalized. The more, the merrier. It's possible administration will act to more widely promote, in time. There is still time.
I certainly agree with your second and third assertion. Many members could take the initiative to become captains and create teams. I think it's not clear this is an option! It is! If you are a subscribing member, you can become a team captain and create a team. The system is really good and facilitates the invitations and acceptances. All members and registered users can be invited to become team members, whether they are on the Free Agents List, or not. Of course, members and users who don't want to be team captains and have not been recruited should join the FAL here.

I agree about not postponing.
I wish the SC would pipe in about being able to use 36 teams and implement a wildcard for the playoffs. Seems like it would work just as well. And more attainable. |

As was mentioned in the announcement, the scheduled may simply be adjusted. Considering the number of teams we have now, what would likely happen is that we'll go from 4 conferences down to only 2 conferences, allowing for a factor of 12. This will allow us to be able to use 36 teams.
I'm about to send out an announcement to any user that's not involved in the current season and has also submitted an entry in the past 5 years. Hopefully that can drum up some further excitement and squeeze out some extra teams.
Current teams of 10 could decide to split themselves up and add two additional users each from the Free Agent Pool, but I can see how that is not ideal or all that much fun.
ETA: There are lots of tweaks we can make... the first season was designed for different adjustments. We could go from 6 teams per division to 5, changing the factor from the previously mentioned 12 to 10, allowing for 40 teams. This would shorten the season though. If we went from 6 to 7 with 3 divisions, we could handle 42, etc.

The schedule could also work with 18 teams in each division (instead of 24), given some slight modifications:
3 conferences per division (instead of 4). Each conference would still have 6 teams. That is 3 x 6 = 18
Qualification for play-offs: In each division: 3 first's (1 per conference) plus best 2nd. That is 3 + 1 = 4. Best 2nd would be picked based on average among three 2nd's.
Play-offs would be identical.
We almost already have 2 divisions of 18 each...36 total

An even number of divisions is ideal, since the code base would have to be heavily altered to handle playoffs with an odd number, but that's another option. |

You can head to the Free Agent Registration page, but you will likely fair better at this point by creating your own team and inviting users from the free agent pool. You can even invite some users, collectively come up with a name, and change it before the season goes live. |

It's been mentioned before, but worth mentioning again -- wild card(s) could be used to fill playoff spots. I actually like wild cards, because it gives a reprieve to a group(s) that were so close, but not quite close enough.
