Hey Everyone,

I have a Westinghouse 19" monitor with 1440 x 900 native resolution, running on my laptop that has the ati radeon hd 3200. 3 hours ago and for the past several months it has been running 1440 x 900, and I restarted my computer and it doesn't even have an option for 1440 x 900, I've tried updating drivers, but the closest resolution it shows is 1400 x 950, which isn't at all what my monitor needs.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Ryan

You updated the driver for the video card, but it may have lost the monitor profile. Look through device manager and see what it is showing for a monitor. What flavor of Windoze?

I'm using Vista. All it says under device manager is: generic non-pnp monitor, and generic pnp monitor

I think Windows hides resolutions it thinks them monitor does not support. Check in the display properties, there should be a button or checkbox to unhide the other modes.

Is is detecting that this is an external monitor, or does it just seem to be echoing the display choices for the built in screen?

It recognizes it as an external monitor, it just wants to display 1400 x 950

eta: it even has an option for 1600 x 1200 which my monitor cannot do.
