i think it would be pretty nice to see a yearly "average vote received" alongside our all-time average. Say the first of the year reset the yearly average to 0 and start fresh. It would be most useful to see how we improve over time. When you start getting up over 75-100+ challenges it's hard to see how you've been doing recently. For me at least, it would give me a fresh motivation to improve and challenge my previous years average. Also the all-time average actually becomes more meaningless as the years pass. It shows an average of who you are now with who you used to be. Some people have started here when they first began to learn photography and have become quite good since. Others have started here with years of experience already. So their averages may not really reflect their current abilities and can't even be used to compare one to the other. I just think it would be nice to go to someone's profile and be able to tell a bit more about where they are now.

That would be cool to have. After almost 200 challenges, even a solid 6+ does not move my average up much. Once in a while I will run it all out on a calculator or spreadsheet to see my yearly average.

Some similar conversation here, and yes, I agree with you (with options). :-)

It's nice to see some movement (hopefully up :) ) in the average, but the glacial speed of the overall average is a little slow for me. I keep a 10 vote running average using google docs on my profile page millsa. Though some site options to show something like yearly stats would be very cool.

We did this in our game-playing site, brought in quarterly stats alongside lifetime stats, to give people something tangible to shoot for, and it worked great for spurring renewed interest.

I would agree, this would be a great feature.

As it is now, I ended up making a spreadsheet that weights the challenges according to votes, so I can keep track of my yearly scores, and how my average has changed. I am such a nerd.

I would like to see our profile page look like this. Then have an area below to list your email address, Private Message, Web Address, Camera(s), Lens(es), and Gear. Then below that an area for your bio. Leave the left side for an upgraded Favorites column.
