I would think it would be so annoying...but it is. >:(
All I want to do is make a simple slideshow of photos to play in a DVD player.
I've tried both Windows Movie Maker and Photo Story 3 for windows.
Making the movie/slideshow is no big deal; but I cant seem to save it in a format that the DVD player will accept -I've wasted several CDs so far. I've tried .wma and .avi -and neither are recognized.
This cant be as complicated as I'm making it.
Thanks in advance for the help.
ps. I would like to avoid purchasing additional software as I know people have had success with one or both of the above.

The only way I know that plays in a DVD player is to select DVD as the format and burn to a DVD -R disc. I don't use either of the programs you are so don't know if you can do that from those.
I know you can create a DVD slideshow from PS Elements though.

Hmmm...I wonder then if it can be created in PhotoShop... |

I use ProShow to create mine. You can download the trial version for free, but it will watermark the show.

| Your problem might lie with your DVD player, many of the older ones won't play any "home made" DVDs at all. Check your manual to see which disks it accepts, because if it DOES accept them, then at least AVIs always work. |

| Well, I did a bit more digging and realized a plug-in (from Sonic technologies //www.estore.sonic.com/enu/photostory/default.asp)needed to be installed. As much as I didn't want to spend $$ or even $ I decided to swallow my pride for convenience and cough up the 20 bucks. It works! So far. |
