Me and a friend of mine each bought a Canon EOS 50D recently. When I take a photo with my camera at 2000 sec I get a dark band accross the top of the photo, if I go above 3000 sec the complete photo is dark.

The same setting on my friends camera is fine.

Has anyone here experienced this with their 50d?

See example photos at:

1) Exposure 1/2000 sec - F/4 - ISO 400

Take it back. There's a problem with the shutter leaf synch.

Are you using this with any sort of manual flash that isn't ETTL or set to high speed sync?
