No description. Could be a almost free for all freestudy, or at least very open to subjective interpretation.

Hidden Gem

yes, especially with no description

I assumed that something had to be hidden... But why are we getting repeats so quickly? We just had a lines challenges, and now we have straight lines and curved lines. We just had a where's waldo, and now a hidden treasure?

Note to any newbies looking at this...the Hidden Gem challenge referred to a hidden gem among your digital archives. Any digital photo of yours could be entered (provided you hadn't used it before, and you had valid EXIF data for it) - no date restrictions. This was DPC's 1000th challenge anniversary.

The submission page still has the check box for date restrictions "Yes, this photograph was taken with a digital camera on or between Sep 30 2009 and Oct 6 2009."

kinda confusing. Can anyone explain?

The current challenge "Hidden Treasures" should not be confused with the earlier challenge "Hidden Gems" in celebration of the 1000th challenge. I think some people are confusing this.

These two challenges are in NO way related. Your link is confusing.

I'll be voting on Hidden Treasure solely on that topic name, not in reference to any prior challenges (like Hidden Gem).

Just sayin'...

I think the entry needs to portray a hidden treasure of some sort. Not just be a good image that you've forgotten about. :)

Seeing this challenge, first picture that popped in my head was Girl on an Adventure - by Dave Hill and another one by Joey Lawrence

On a side note : I visited Joey website after a long time, he has really gone quite a way and very fast - amazing talent! His advertising portfolio has shots from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!!

They are clearly related that hidden gem was about pretty much anything, and this one is about, pretty much anything. and they both had hidden in the name. So yes, they are related

and there is no description and no one is telling you how to think. Clearly everyone will make one up and try to get others to think the same way

At least one person that posted here was confused ( teuton01) by the fact that there was a time criteria for this challenge, while Hidden Gems did not. That is the confusion I was referring to.

No, not really. "Hidden gem" is a phrase that in the case of the prior challenge meant to find the "hidden gem" among the archives of your digital photo files.

For "Hidden Treasures" you need to go out and photograph something now, within the challenge time restrictions, that means "Hidden Treasures" to you (and hopefully will come across to voters as well).

the link was for photo references (inspiration if you will), not for challenge description.. what would be the point in that

Ok, but those are photos of anything. Bah...nevermind. Good luck.

I am not going to enter this one. Too much confusion just like the missed focus challenge. Unless someone steps in and clarifies the details.

Just sent PM to SC asking for clarification. Hopefully some will be posted soon.

Too much overthinking. This, BTW, is WAY easier than the 'Missed Focus' challenge...no comparison (obviously JMO).

Think about it; what does "Hidden Treasures" mean to you? Is it the smiling face of a child in an otherwise dreary scenario? How about a photo album in the bottom of that old trunk in the attic?

see, you are trying to skew peoples views of the challenge, when in essence it really can mean anything.. Think about it; Is it that tiny ant in the tree? The golden double water drop? The lush landscape no one usually sees? .. you getting my point yet?

if you define treasure as something valuable, precious, something you cherish.. it can be anything

i'm saying the title can be interpreted in many ways, i'll let you decide what the description should be

that would be my thought as well. something that is a treasure that is hidden. when the description is N/A, it is up to the photog to creatively interpret the "title." Tricky, but I think could really allow for some creative things to go on.

Well then it looks like I won't have to give any 1 "dnmc" votes this time!

I will be voting higher for a photo that has something not apparent at first glance, but sneaks up on you after you look a while. To me, that is finding the treasure.
