Just a reminder, too, if a walk near you is full, but you still really want to go -- don't be afraid to "just show up."

I have also hear about people backing out at the last minute. If the walk seems full, try contacting the walk leader and maybe they have an opening after all.

Yes, it's going to be VERY hot for the afternoon one. I'll make sure to bring my hat and sunblock!

One last bump before the big day. Supposed to be 110+ in the Phoenix area. I'm such a wuss, I may end up sitting this year out altogether. *Really* glad I didn't sign up to lead one again this time! ;)

I signed up for one going to Roxborough state park, normally it is not open until 7:00 AM, we are being allowed in at 5:00 AM. They have some fantastic red rock formations and the time of day will allow for some great opportunities at sunrise.

There's 5 photowalks in the city and all of them were booked quickly :(

They are not taking applications for leaders at this point, but as I've mentioned earlier in this thread -- just show up! If you really want to enter the contests, then check with one or more of the leaders of the walks in your area and see if can bump you into the "official" list -- but the official list is only for the purposes of the contest. If you want to go to a walk to meet folks and take photos, just go to any of them you wish!

Anyone tried to connect to the site lately?

I'm getting a database connection error.

Must of just been a point in time hiccup as it works fine for me now. Everyone trying to hit the link sent in the NAPP email all at the same time.

There are 5 photowalks in Utah, two in Salt Lake City alone. There's probably a photowalk near you.

Get out and participate! :)

For anyone in Phoenix about to head out to the morning downtown walk... It's presently 93 and rising (and it's freaking 5:30 in the morning), and forecast high is 115. I think I'm going to bow out of the morning walk and may try the evening walk in Scottsdale. Supposed to get down 89 at some point. Probably like midnight tonight or something.......

ETA - That's WITH 30% humidity. Not-so-much of the "dry heat," like it matters over 100...

There have been a couple here in the central Pa area this summer.

Everyone reports that they have a great time.

Just back from my walk. Beautiful temperature and blue skies, though the sun was a bit harsh at time. Bad light at noon (much better now at 7:15 p.m.). Had fun, met some very nice people.

PS: I don't think I have a submission-worthy entry for the PhotoWalk "contest," but I'll look through them again later.

I had a great time with the group I went with, we met at 5:00AM , got to see the sun come up. My photos are so-so, my tripod ball head crapped out before the first shot which really limited what I could shoot that early. On the plus side I was able to repair the tripod when I got home.

We had a good showing today in the group for my town. It was hot, and we got underway a little late for my tastes, but it was fun and I learned quite a bit about some of the architecture and homes here.

My Photo Walk pictures on flickr!

Just got back a few minutes ago. In a few blocks we had everything from high falutin' museums to grungy industrial alleyways. We went out to a restaurant after wards and talked cameras. I'm just copying my photos over to the computer now. The light was perfect, we had just enough cloud cover to act like a giant softbox, but still plenty of blue skies. And we had a pleasant cold snap as well. It was only in the mid 90's today.

DAMN! I forgot :(

Then again, today was dknourek's last day here, so I have an excuse, and the place ours headed was where we went yesterday for sunset.

I kinda suck at (and have little desire to excel at) architecture images and, basically, what I expected we would be looking at / photographing on the downtown Salt Lake photowalk.

So I cheated. I brought a model along with me. My flickr album.

I can't believe I didn't think to do that! I think I got some good ones, but I haven't tried to process any yet.
