We just hit the 100.8 degrees.

eeeeeeeeeerkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

edited to add; DUH, I forgot to write the rest of the post.

so I have a month without the kids this year as we are not going to England but they are going to Oregon with their Father.

So was goign to drive route 66 until I actually looked at a map and figured Florida was not on the route.

So if you had a month off and a little money saved up (not much talking tents and cheap hotels)

what and where would you go??????????????

What month?

Route 66 with L.A. to Vegas, Death Valley, the Grand Canyon, Monument valley, the slot canyons,; Antelope ect., Arches and Brice nat. parks, mesa verde, painted desert, just to start, is a great trip. When it is 106 in the shade at mid day, not so much fun.

I've heard New Mexico is beautiful. :)
When talking vacations, I think Mr. Einstein summed it up when he said "Its all relative."

I agree with the Northwest, Yellowstone, working up to Seattle and Vancouver, Victoria Island, a beautiful area.

My wife and i recently traveled across the country on less than 50 dollars a day, some camping and some decent hotels. Make sure you stop at the first rest stop in most states. There is a visitors center where you can get coupons for real nice hotels, cheap. We stayed at a brand new hotel that normally costs 200 a night and got it for 36. Also enjoy the drive, don't feel the need to rush anywhere. The country is not as big as you would think and if you take the time to appreciate it you'll find yourself very relaxed. Also less distance each day means less gas and more camera time.

I have been on every mile of the I-10 and Most of I-40 they are nice, but another hint is to leave the Interstates whenever possible and travel on the state highways. You will find many more peaceful places to hang out. From Tucson you may want to consider seeing the painted desert, monument valley, the grand canyon (even hike in or go to the North rim), Arches, Zion, You could head up to Glacier, Yellowstone, and the Tetons. also, if you have never been to Yosemite I would go there first. One of the most amazing places I have ever been. And most importantly.....

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!

Northern Michigan is gorgeous.

Especially the U.P.

Not to mention, we need the tourist $$$ since no one (OK, 12% of us...) has a job.

Have you tried some of the hotels/motels in the area, or maybe even a tent or the rental of a camper.

That is truly one beautiful place to visit and I fully intend to go back soon.
