Has there been any discussion of Langdon/DPC "taking over" this project and calling it "promotional" for DPC? If I read the ToS correctly, at that point we won't NEED any permissions...

Robert I have sent a total of three PM using the Help menu. The first email I asked langdon to view the original thread and wanted his opinion. A few days later with no reply, using the help menu I email langdon through the Administrator option and General option, a detailed email asking for his help and offered a few suggestions as to how he could help - such as highlighting the thread green and announcing it in the Site news box.

I have not received a reply from him as of this post. I have seen langdon online a few times and drewmedia once (one of the times both were on at the same time) since this project was announced but no replies. Maybe he is trying to determine a way of doing it but I don't know what it keeping him from responding. I wish he could at least respond saying he has viewed my email and will get back with me.

So as of now it just us [community] trying to get this done. That about all I can say.

Scott

Edit to clarify the use of the word us as meaning the community.

I sent my approval yesterday.

the odds of getting 100% to respond are pretty low I would imagine.

What happens if you get 80-90%? Can you still proceed?

What about the members who don't check the forums and stuff? I saw tons of entries from users who hadn't entered or done much on the site for a long time. I wonder if they will even see this thread...

At this point I have two options.
1. Blur the thumbnail pictures beyond recognition where the photographs did not send me a contact me or sent a non-approval form.
2. Remove the thumbnail pictures and re-align the collage where the photographs did not send me a contact me or sent a non-approval form.

3. "Borrow" Art's Godzilla and use him to torch every non-permitted thumbnail by photoshopping him in. Now it's a derivative work and you're "scot-free" :-)

All I need is the release form from the photographers that entered the 1000th challenge. The photographers that did not enter need not fill out the form(s).

But you have a good point. If you have a fav'ed photographer or friend that entered the 1000th challenge [challenge_ID1005], please send them a quick email or PM and refer them to this thread.

Release form sent.

UPDATE: 244 Release forms received (21.5%)

I have notice on some of the forms sent that some users do not know how to find there picture ID_#.

1. Goto your profile
2. Scroll down to "Challenge Entries"
3. Find your entry and left click it so you can view the full size picture.
4. While viewing the full picture you should see the following in your browsers address bar at top [//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=XXXXXX].
Your six digit IMAGE_ID# will replace the XXXXXX I have used in the example above.

i been here quite awhile. and i think it's a good effort - props to you.

it's too bad some don't want to participate - but suck is life... :)

you have committed and produced a product with something you weren't sure you'd be able to sell. don't take it to heart.

fwiw - possibly using the approved images with just a black block ( or random color block ) for the photogs that declined the offer ?

that leaves those that just didn't see this thread and might be interested - out too....

anyhow BUMPO !!!

Thanks soup but I want to clarify one thing. I don't want to sell the print for profit or gain. I just want it available to users a DPCPrint.com[s] base price. I did this for the community - no strings attached.

Thanks again,
Scott

i understand - but selling something w/o proper rights whether you make a profit or not is a no-no.

i am surprised the admins haven't - at least - given some sort of feedback.

ETA - my guess is they are mulling it over. no SC repsonses here either.

I just sent mine in. I just saw this thread. Maybe you and some helpers can send some PMs to people who haven't replied to you. I think that is the only way you can dream about getting over 50-70% reply. Good luck, this looks like a mountain I wouldn't want to climb.
