Hi everyone,

I'm trying to learn how to watermark exactly like Melissa Jill: //www.melissajill.net/. Each photo has a white background and thin black border, and her logo is in the image somewhere.

My logo can be seen in the top right here: //www.ariellehazephotography.com/blog/

I know Photoshop pretty well, but I've yet to learn how to create an action or batch that would do this. I would love guidance, instructions, a link to a tutorial, something!!!

FYI: I have Photoshop CS3, Lightroom 2.2, and a PC.

Thanks a million!

Yeah, I'm starting to learn about marketing and branding; so, it's high on my list right now. I figure our wonderful DPC friends would have the knowledge and the kindness to share!

Create your logo file and save as psd with transparent background

You need to use File -> Place to add in your logo.psd

To align say bottom left, go to layers pallet, select both layers then use Layer -> Align and you can align bottom then right etc

You can then just select your logo layer and the move tool and use the arrow keys to nudge your logo

You can they record an action to do all that.

If that doesn't help let me know and I'll knock together a more detailed tutorial

I'll try this as soon as I get home from work. Also, how does the white and black line border work in an action or batch? I want it to be a part of this process. Did you see what I am talking about on Melissa's pix?

yes, you can create an action to add a border, I posted an action to do this here

Creating a Simple Watermark Action in Photoshop

I tried that one, GeneralE, but I didn't like it. I wanted to use my logo.jpg. I guess I need to tweak the action somewhat. I'll play with these this weekend and let you know what I come up with!

Ok, I still really need some help. I have my logo in PSD and jpg. How do I batch add this using an action? It's not really a "watermark" I guess. It's a separate file that I want included on every photo.

Dear friends, thanks so much!! Honestly, thank you!

Do you mean how do you add your action do a batch?

Have you got an action to add your logo/watermark to your image?

I don't have that much experience with creating actions, but I'd try something like this:

-open your logo image, SelectAll, and copy it to the Clipboard
-create an action which:
1) pastes the Clipboard data to a new layer
2) reduces the opacity of the new layer to 10% (or whatever setting seems to work best)
3) flattens the image
4) saves the image to a new file

The only disadvantage of this is you have to make sure to copy the logo to the Clipboard first. You might be able to write the action to also open the logo and copy it each -- you'd just have to make sure not move or rename it, and it means constantly re-opening and copying the logo file, which would take extra time.

Once you have the action created, you then create a "Batch" and apply that action to the selected files.

I have an action to do this using File -> Place to add in your logo.psd

Is this where you are stuck or have you already created you action?
03/14/2009 02:12:28 PM · #13
Ok, I've just uploaded my action, you can download it here

This needs to be put in you actions directory, eg C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions

This MUST have your psd file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions and it MUST be called watermark5.psd

Open your image that you want to add the logo to. Add your border (have you got your action to do that?) and then run this action which will add a new layer with your logo on and move it to the bottom right

eta. you can then create a new action that calls your border action and then your watermark action

I will download and play with this today!!! I haven't created the action, no. I am at the "beginning" with one of my photos opened in PS. Staring at it, wondering what the hell to do with it to add my psd logo to the bottom right and a nice little border around the image. I'm clueless on where to click next!

Thanks for your advice and for creating this action! I'll get back to you soon with my result!!!

Lightroom Export with Watermark/Border function.

I can't attest to it, but it explains Mogrify a bit better and everyone does seem to rave about the Mogrify plugin.
