Well, I got our newest member, Penny_weaver, to make an entry. And HER picture was shot in, get this, 2001... So it's gotta be one of the oldest entered for sure. As for me, I flip-flopped again, and my entry is now just about the most RECENT picture I have taken, LOL... Not because I expect to win or anything, but because several people saw me working on what i was gona enter today, and they all said "What about your (xxxx) picture you took last week?"

So I caved.

Onwards and upwards!

I've been in since several days ago (I think I was number 173). But I've got three other candidates trying to change my mind.

Anyone not voting want to help me decide which one to submit? This is the situation in which my DPL teammates really helped me out.

I'm in. I'd really like to get at least a 6.0 in this challenge, but I have a feeling I will be disappointed. It's going to be so difficult scoring this challenge because of the vast variety of styles and choices. I love some of the beautiful editing and processing that can be done, but I do hope there will be some respect for basic photos as well - as long as they are, of course, well done. I haven't been very active in the challenges, but I plan to make a point to view all the entries in this one! I also plan to add many new favorites :)

I have entered one of my all time favorites which has not been in a challenge. It's actually from 2005, so it's been around for awhile :)

OK make a decision. New picture I really like. Old picture people will hopefully find interesting and certainly different. Back and forth. Looks like I am going to try to be a little different (how is that possible with over 700 entries?- we shall see. I at least expect to get a few comments on it but it will not be a ribbon that is for sure. Too many other great photos will be in it I am sure. Scoring will be tough on this one. Forget the 100% comments- this will take a while just to do 100% voting. Thanks to those who are willing to do the 100 comments thing. Now I have to decide with black and white or color.

It would be great to have 1000 entries to the 1000th Challenge!!

I'm in ... at number 737

Thanks Langdon and Drew for creating this site and keeping it alive. It has inspired me to go out and shoot many times when I didn't feel like it. The images I have created at those times, and the better images I have created as a result on my travels and at other times when I *wanted* to shoot, are priceless.

I'm in, I'm in, I'm in in in! *dancing round now*.
Not sure I'll break a 6, but I love it anyway :)

I'm in despite my hesitation because of the number of entries. It is not a blue but hopefully I can stay in the 5's ;)

a great side effect of this is to really get a lot more disciplined with myself regarding my filing system.

heheh. There definitely is a buzz on this one.

I entered a shot that is intentionally soft. Poison for scores. Oh well, at least I won't be losing that 5.5 average that I worked so hard for... ;)

Odds are I'll get better than a 2.

Unfortunately, I'll be out of town for almost a week, so I doubt I will have time to vote.

It's great to see so many entering pics because they like them and out of total disregard for how the pic may score.

What an amazing journey going through all the photos I've taken over the years. Thank you Langdon!!!

OMG I have no idea what to enter. Well thats not entirely true, I have narrowed it down to a few. These are my fave pictures for a variety of reasons and I really dont know how the masses will react to them.

Do I go for one that I love cos it tells a story to me but was taken on an inferior camera and has 1 flaw that everyone will pick holes in..
Do I go for one that is atmospheric but again on an inferior camera..
Do I go for one on a better camera but that I think is a bit dull but dpcers would love more..

Oh I am so indecisive at the best of times!! AAAaaaahhhhh

Take the one that represents the Hidden Gem for you.

If there is beauty hidden behind the mask of technical deficiencies of an old camera, people will look for it.

It sounds like you already know that the pic on a better camera is less of a 'gem'.

763 IN! You are all doomed. I will win this time surely!
03/10/2009 05:30:44 AM · #198
I can state with 100% certainty, without a shadow of a doubt, no question, that I will not ribbon in this challenge. I can also state with nearly 100% certainty that I will score either above or below a 5. There is the very rare chance I will score exactly a 5, but were I a betting woman, I'd not place any money on that option.

Hi Judy,

Don't worry about being disappointed ! My goal now is to vote as many entries as possible and to leave comments as well. As there is no subject, variety will help.
I wasn't in a mood to make the best decision but from the 4 photos from a first selection, I took only one to edit, from 2005, it's entry #602 in this challenge. Not the best photo of course but I really don't mind, this challenge is like Olympic Games, many people, many nations, great athletes and symbolic participations like mine.
