Nice one....I like the Holga look for this scene.

Here's another fresh one from last weekend.

Shot with Velvia 100F and scanned on the Epson V700.

(Maybe this was a bad idea on my part, lol!!)

I recommend scanning prints, not negatives -- it's always been a real pain on home scanners. To scan a negative (or slide), your scanner would need a transparency adapter; I doubt you can just lay it on the glass.

If you are a Costco member, you can have a roll of negatives scanned to archival CD for about $3 -- the images seem to be about the size you'd get from a 6MP camera.

Holga - Polaroid. Neighbor's horses taking it easy.

Some polaroids from last summer. Shot with an SX-70 and some of my last of the old, original SX-70 time zero film. Scanned on my Canoscan 500f.

This one was shot at Fort Union in New Mexico. The day I was there (about five years ago) was really blah. The image on the left is pretty much a straight scan with a little bright/cont. adjustment.

The image on the right is the reason I am posting it, the first shot I've played with in Topaz. Have to admit, I like the Topaz version much better.

This is my friend Brian during a ski trip. I shot this with my ae-1 with some kodak tri-x 400, which i then developed in hc-110 dil. b for 6.5 minutes. it's a bit more grainy than expected, so i'm going to adjust a few things next time.

I'm double-dipping with this one. I've used it as my entry in the Unconventional Side Challenge.

Taken with a Diana+ using CVS Pharmacy's house brand color negative film. (It's really cheap!)

There is a real learning curve in going retro. I have to do all sorts of things like remember to take the lens cap off and advance the film. And then there's getting dust off the scanner screen and negatives! It really makes me appreciate the self-cleaning sensor...

Pretty much as it came off of the scanner with a slight tweak in curves.

I've taken two films so far! My camera is a Pentax MZ-30, which I bought in 2000 before going to the US and Canada during the Sydney Olympics (we had a long vacation that year, so it was a good opportunity for a Grand Canyon mountain bike exedition). I had a Canon AE-1 Program, but it was heavy. The MZ-30 is so light.

I've scanned three photos so far! My home scanner seems a bit unsharp compared to the scanner at school, or maybe it's just the settings. The problem with using the scanner at school is getting to use it - other people use the computer it's connected to, a lot. (Only posting two, though.)

Okay, developer tray are on the way from B&H. Very slow going. (To remind everyone, I'm building a pinhole camera out of an oatmeal box and plan to do my own black and white developing.)

If I get one entry posted by the end of the month (challenge), I'll be happy. Meantime, I've dropped a few comments around. Nice work, everyone!

good to hear, man! i'm kinda a like in the same state, waiting for some stuff to arrive. it's pretty hard to get this "old time" stuff these days but i suppose that just goes to show the slow pace of analog photography in general. thatswhy i was also going to suggest to have this side challenge extended for a month longer, so people can get everything ready until the end of this month and then post away their self developed stuff and whatnot in april! ;)
what do you think? or should we just open an ongoing thread for people to post their analog photography when this s c is over?

btw i gonna pick up 3 rolls of film from the lab tomorrow so i'll have some stuff to post again.

for now let me throw in this one, taken in january this year from my students apartment:

My suggestion: Extend it for a month. Maybe even go through the sign-up process again to generate some fresh interest. This worked well for our street photography side challenge last fall. The on-going thread idea is good in theory, but in practice, they seem to get lost or just fizzle out. You've generated some interest here, but it sounds like a lot of us just weren't quite ready. I think tph1 even mentioned that he had some new gear on the way.

And I thought I convinced Deb ( Melethia) to buy a Holga. Now how much fun would that be? (For all of us!)

I'm game for another month. My missing pieces of gear arrive this friday. I think I'll have to create a 'Film' folder in my portfolio. I would look forwarding to sharing more photos in this SC if we extend it.

i vote for extending it! i love shooting film, and i'll probably have a bunch more stuff to post :)

I'm game for another month. I think my relearning curve is starting to kick in.

I am all for extending it. I have 20 (OMG I am getting old) years of film to go through.

Took three shots with my new old Bronica 6x6. Used the Polaroid back because my 220 film isn't here yet. Really took my time as I had to figure out a borrowed handheld light meter. Went inside to peel apart the magic film. Nothing. Forgot to take the dark slide out of the Polaroid back! Dummy. Hope to shoot a roll of film and process this weekend.

LOL good thing you cant do that with regular film in it. Extra note i also have a bronica although its an etrs but i have a 220 back too. The only BW film i can find is tri-x which isnt a bad film i actually love it but i want more choices! I have been using 120 film in it and its working ok so far haha.

How about jumping in and posting a few?

Thinking of ebaying a 120 back for the reason you mentioned.

I also just bought my bronica. I have only shot my first roll and it was with bad film, shaghai so i only printed one picture. Mostly just to see how much i could enlarge it.

I have a lot of 35mm prints that i will have to "scan" with my digital camera. They are glossu so im not sure how well that will turn out. I wish i didnt buy a 250 box of glossy rc paper. Im going to buy some 16x20 or 20x24 paper sometime soon.

Extending = brilliant. I've made the executive decision that spring break trip is going to be only film! I LOVE film. It's magnificent!

(scanning prints!)
