Edited and original.
Last time I attempted to comment, the site went down. Hopefully, I'll have a better luck this time. :) |

At least, thats what I go by, and I have the DVD backup stack to prove it. :) |
Preserved, yes ... able to find? Not so often as I'd like ... :-( |

Nothing stopping you from looking through your old images and (re)editing any which now strike your fancy ... :-) |

Week 4
Original #1
used part of the central body of the insect to photo stack with...
Original #2
the head, antennae and rear body to produce...
Edited version:
Processing steps: inserted #1 into #2, masked out paspalam stalk and bug (he was about 3/4" long - 15mm), applied levels adjustment layer to bring up detail and blacks, then flattened image. Colour Efex software - brilliance and warmth. Cropped image. Lucis and Ninja on front legs. Small amount of perfectum on whole of image. Slight yellow/lime vignette to hide lens vignetting due to relatively poor light. Brightness and contrast adjustment layer to lift the overall image. SFW.
I am guessing that this is a small praying mantis or at least part of that family. There are over 1800 different types of mantis. The fact that this little critter is only standing on four legs indicates that the larger front legs are curled up in a resting mode.
This was taken at about 6-00am while the dew was still on the ground. These types of insects are fairly sluggish until they can get the warmth from the sun - similar to reptiles. |

Week 5 - an old one from Texas. Figured I'd edit this one because I suspect this whole area is now a bunch of nice suburban homes that all look alike.

Damn.... the last week has been busy, and I missed my entry last week, and I also havent commented on any of your images in a while too. Sorry.
Here is what I have for week 4.

I will also try catching up with my comments tomorrow after work. Right now it is late, and I need to get to sleep.
Thanks for checking these out, and for all the feedback I have received so far.
