I was fired from a waiting job once for saying "Blow Job". I used to work at this Mexican restaurant once and this group of girls celebrating a bachelorette party with a bunch of Toys (you know what kind yes) and were rowdy as heck. One of the girls came to me and asked me to embarrass the girl that was about to get married. So I go to the bar tender and he says "serve her a blow job drink".

So I go to the girls, I gather the wait staff (the things one did for tips) and I shout to the top of the lungs that she was getting married and she was going to take down blow job.

Next thing I know, manager comes up to me and demands that I apologize to a family of four who was sitting next to that table. The father was super upset and told me that his little girl asked him what a blow job was. It didn’t matter how many times I apologized, he was just ticked off.

Anyway, later that evening I found out that I was fired for saying that word. I learned a good college lesson. I never curse at work now.

THat's the big cry of the leftists these days is that preventing exhibition of their "art" is censorship. Walmart, Blockbuster, theatres, etc all face this nonsense.

Back to the original topic. The movie is a comedy about 2 people who make a porno. It's not really a porno. Yes, the title is controversial, but people getting upset about the ads because of the word porno. I just think people are looking for things to complain about. I don't see anything wrong with it. People are just a bit uptight nowadays.

Actually, the title is brilliant. The controversy this will obviously stir up is probably far better than any marketing they could do for the film. And it's free! :-)

I actually almost always fall left-of-center on most issues but here I have to agree with, for example, the City of Philadelphia's refusal to have posters at bus stops. I know it's a comedy, its not sexual, etc..., but it doesn't matter how innocuous the actual movie is, I wouldn't want my kid looking at it and asking me what a 'porno' was.

Sexual ads that show skin are everywhere, sure, but the word porno has not yet been accepted into our society free of stigma.

I'm sure they can get someone else to fill the advertising space quite easily and forego answering endless phone calls/letters complaining about their placement.

No, I'm not a parent. But if I were and my kid asked what porno meant. I'd simply explain it's a movie for adults. That's all you need.

That would make a lot more sense to me if I couldn't walk into any Wal-Mart and see back-to-school book covers displaying 14 years old girls dressed like sluts.

I just saw another thread about some word (fox trot, uniform, chalie, kilo) where about the same arguement was brought up.

For me, there is a certain sense of disillusionment with how much we allow our morals to be degreaded in society. As we lower the bar and expose ourselves to more and more crass things on a daily basis, less suprises us. There for we are less effected when more crass things take place.

The question is really, Do my kids seeing the word "Porno" have an adverse effect on them? Or possibly, its just that some people's view of the world is that they shouldnt have to explain things to their children. For me personally, I would rather tell my kids that a porno is a movie for adults (nipping it in the bud), than have them not know and question their friends like some southpark episode.

Sound crazy? Maybe. Ask that parent/grandparent, etc...that's been taken in for having film developed with baby in the bath tub.
