free memberships, here is one thread

I'll second that nomination. She started the thread and made the original offer, and through her act of generousity six more memberships were given away. Not only does she go out of her way to help others, she manages to multiply what she is doing by inspiring others here to do the same.

Thanks Alex. Sherryl was already a proud Honorary Mention award holder. However, upon strong nominations received after that, and upon knowing that she had helped in making not one, but multiple free memberships possible, she has been moved to the "Stars" awad category. We have just sent her a notification informing her of the change, and now she can shine the blue "Extraordinary Outreach Award" ribbon on her profile.

I would like to nominate KarenNfld for a couple of reasons: first, her "Member of the Week" threads (example here) are a wonderful way to bring attention to some of DPC's photographers, often somewhat quieter ones; and second, if you look at her profile page you'll see she has several 100% comment ribbons - she's very generous with her comments and her time.

Thank you Deb!

Owing to her great contributions in bringing DPCers together, I have added Karen's name to the nominee's list.

We started to organize the process a bit since there are soooo many deserving great souls here. As soon as we will receive at least one more nomination, we will consider the nominees for the next batch of awards on the closest upcoming thursday. If we get at least one more nomination today (by 9 PM Pacific Time (US)), the decision will be made tomorrow.

Thank you again for your kindness.

Okay, if you're giving out upgrades, then Melethia should definitely get one.

To return the good vibe for being selected for one of these awards, I am offering a free 1yr membership, to be given when the next thread offering free memberships comes around.
If anyone sees a new thread about free memberships, let me know, and I will sponsor one for whoever is selected to receive them. I would have liked to have sponsored one last month, but I was out of cash due to a family trip.

Prash, to give you an insight to what an incredible bunch you've joined up with here, read this old thread from 2 years ago. The title was updated during the course of the thread, so don't be confused by that. (I can't believe it's been two years already...)

Steve Davidson goes missing.

Hey Waddy, I new thread for a free membership just came out, the title is "sponsoring Maggye's membership" (LOL), (just kidding)... Now seriously.. You really deserve the award, your comments have been really helpful to me, hey, you gave me such good tips in how to use my macro lens. ;)

Yes I got your PM re: the start award. Thank you very much for accepting it, you deserve it!

And yes Deb certainly seems to have a lot of great work following her to a nomination for the start award, thanks for nominating her so hard, you guys are great!

You are 'the' hero, Waddy!

If you guys keep doing all this good, we would have filled the winner list faster than people would join DPC:-)

This is great!

Last March my pregnant daughter was in a very serious car accident in New York. She was in intensive care for over a week, and the father of her unborn baby was killed. I did not have the money to fly to New York to be by her side. Clubjuggle spearheaded a fund raising campaign to purchase a ticket for me.

You can read the thread here. I believe he also deserves this award.

As a PS for those following this story, the baby is due next week and Marianela is doing much better. She still feels overwhelmed that she will be doing this alone, but she is strong and has a huge support system.

I want to nominate my good friend Snotty Nose aka DrAchoo for his efforts in raising money to replace HotPasta's camera. Read more here.

We definitely need to lay one of these on Kat Bishop ( Katmystiry): a year and a half ago my computer was dying and she and her husband actually bought me one for Christmas... Amazing... Can't thank her enough :-)

Update: 2 fellow senior members have accepted the request to be on the judge's panel. Waiting for 4 more to respond.

P.S. If you received a request message, please keep it a secret as we are planning not to disclose the judge's identity for transparency.

Great idea everyone. I'd like to offer up a name ... I'm not including threads ... you can find him on most: levyj413. He's always one to offer advice, join a cause, offer an explanation, etc. etc.
Personally he showed me around DC and held my hand during an injury and got medical help. Jeffrey is always always always a voice of reason when DPCers get restless. He's available for technical help, opinions, etc. And don't forget the tutorials he's authored and GTGs he's hosted.

Thanks for the nomination, Jeanne! I am adding Jeff's name to the nominee's list. As soon as we have the judge's panel setup, we will be honoring the deserving souls.
