Very nice, I like the woodpecker the most I would say. I would post some of the pics that I have of birds, but I dont really have time to get them prepared right now. I'll be sure to show my bird pics when I get back from my trip to Costa Rica for Spring Break. I'll be sure to take a lot of pics when I'm there too. See you guys in a week and a half!

Hi,
Great bird pics...Can I ask you what brand teleconverter are you using?
I have a canon 75-300mm usm lense. I'm thinking about getting a teleconverter. I was wondering if a sigma would be compatible with my lense or do I have to use a Canon. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Teleconverters are built with round mouth and usualy are built for f2.8 and f4 lenses!
Make sure 75-300 lense doesn't have square bottom (will not fit in round teleconverter mouth).
I use sigma APQ 2X.

Which 75-300 do you have? You can't use a tele converter with the Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Autofocus Lens

I use the tamaron 1.4 TC ( around $60 at B&H ) with my 75-300 IS and it works fine without any onerous taping of contacts. It tends to seek a bit more with the teleconverter than without, but that lens tends to go wandering in focus land anyway. By the way this TC also works with the Bigma although it does lack it's usual confidence in getting to focus with the TC on, but it will auto focus. Counting the crop factor at full extention ( to 500mm ) this gives an equivalent of a rather silly 1120mm.(500*1.4*1.6) Problem with such a long lens is that things can get close faster than you can adjust.Angry Canadian

Your pics are Awesome!!!!
About the converter...
Don't you mean a 300 X 1.4 X 1.6 = 672MM
Or am I missing something.

300 (full out) X 1.6 for camera X 1.4 for the converter?
I have a 100 - 400 and it only equals 896mm with the canon 1.4x II.

Just wondering if I have been doing my math wrong.

Your math is right,I'm not familiar with Kenko but Sigma mounting will not fit on that lense, check if the bottom is square !
Also you have to multiply the maximum aperture, F4.5 X 1.4 becomes f6.3
and f5.6 X 1.4 = f7.8 which is very dark lense and you will have problem focusing with that.

I took this one today. I didn't realize how hard it was till I got out there and started shooting. I can see why you need a zoom lens.

Here is a Gull from yesterday and a Robin from two weeks ago. The Gull was sitting on a car when I went to leave work yesterday. He didn't seem real concerned about my presence.

Here is an American Kestrel, taken at the Carolina Raptor Center this past weekend. Her name is "Cinnamon", and stole the show from the larger birds...
