"Between Rides" was one of my favourites in On the Road, and I'm so glad it came second. Others I loved are in the top ten. But here's my list, as last week, of photos I think are exciting but ended up ranked lower than I would have liked:

15: Pyxis Anesidorae
24: Wait
31: Frustration
42: Getting Ayamonte
47: Westbound Reader (one of my favourites)
50: Crash
80: POP (PY) Art
97: Going Nowhere Fast (it wasn't one of my favourites, but what is it doing down there?!)

There are others, but these are the photos that really stand out to me.

Thank you, Lisa... mine was Westbound Reader. Though the score wasn't quite what I would have liked (is it ever?), the comments were excellent, and suggest that the picture conveyed what I wanted.

I'm somewhat dismayed that more people didn't notice the book, which was Jack Kerouac's On the Road. Basically, I took a gamble that I would not be the only one to make Kerouac reference, so I downplayed it a bit. As it turns out, I was the only one to make such a reference, so I would have been better off following Chariot's suggestions and making it more prominent.

In any case, Gordon, if you read this, this is the shot I was referring to last week. I took this shot with a 1/45 second exposure, while kneeling on the floor of a moving city bus.

Lisa, thanks again for the kind words, they mean a lot.

I thought the book title added meaning to the picture and graded it up accordingly. Good job.

Since this is about photos deserving recognition, I was glad to see that "Toad on the Road" got the 3rd place award as it was a great picture. I thought "Look Out" which placed 37th was much better than many of the photos that got higher marks. It was creative and innovative with the car up on two wheels about to be crushed.

lisae,
My father, whom is on the road at this time, submitted the photo "Between rides". I'm sure that he will be happy to read your kind words when he get's back. I would like to thank you also. That's me in the photo.

Dear Lisae, I this was my first challenge (wait). I appreciate your list as most of the images that you have picked, make more sense to me also.

I noticed that the top 3 pics have higher score from voters without cameras, then those 'with', kind of confirming the larger 'mass appeal' of those photos.
