Im new to dpchallenge and would like to enter my first picture. However, when I resize my picture to 150kb (competition rule), all I see is a poor quality, highly pixelated photo. It was taken on a 10mp camera on highest quality.

Try this tutorial - you shoud see good results.
Also - the higher level page has many other techniques (sharpening, etc) for prep on images here.

Welcome aboard!

Hi Karel,

Have you resized your photo to meet the pixel size limits (640 or 720 pixels depending on the challenge rules)? Once you've done that then save as a good quality JPEG. That should get you within the limits.

Hope that helps

Miles

Also just have a look at the top three pictures in any Exclusive Open Challenge. The file byte size restriction is never a problem for the winners.

It also becomes a space and bandwidth problem.

You try serving up more than 150KB to the DPChallenge masses and see how your server goes.

You can always become a member. The member challenges and Free Study have this ratio to work with;
no larger than 200 KB (204,800 bytes).
at least 160 pixels, and no more than 720 pixels on each side.

Shouldn't be a problem if you do it right.
