Greetings dpc members.

//www.timtapscott.tk

I made my first real photography site and would love to hear your input. I have only been into photography for about 6 months, got my first dslr November of 2007. So far I have been having a lot of fun, especially with dpc, and thats all that truly matters huh.

Well let me know what you think, I hand coded it so if you see any errors make sure to let me know.

Take care,
Tim

Clean, simple, bright, inviting and BTW, great work. Only thing is that your images are to inexpensive. Or look at it this way, you dont value your photos enough. ;-) Good job!

Was it designed on Firefox?
Reason I ask is because it opened on an apparently grey, empty page. Once I scrolled a ways I finally got to the "meat" but it was about a turn and a half of the thumbwheel.

Liked what I saw once I got there, though :)

IMO your banner image is WAY too big. It takes up a ton of the page on smaller resolutions (1024x768, 1280x764). If I were there to purchase something and had a monitor running those resolutions it would probably annoy me quite a bit.

I'm at 1024x768 and it didn't bother me, but that's just me :)

I'm also on 024x768 and it also looks OK. Very clean design. Nice job.

What are you guys using for browser?? Because for IE it should be fine, on mine it is?? is there a margin above?? What does it look like?

edit: I resized it to 800 px wide, and reduced the size of the main front image.

I'm using IE, and for me your grey background extends above and below the page each by about the size of the page itself. So, 1/3 grey, then 1/3 page, then 1/3 grey.

(Tho' I'm still using IE 6.0, since stoopid Microsoft won't recognise my registration # lately, for some reason, so it wouldn't let me update it. Maybe that's the prob?)

Ive checked it in IE 7 and Firefox im on a nice wide monitor lol not really but 1280x800 and i resized it to 3/4 the width of the monitor looks like it would show up at 1024x768 just fine.

Same thing happened for me, I thought the site hadn't loaded at first until I scrolled down. Don't know if it makes any difference at all but my resolution is 1900x1200.

I'm on IE7 at 1024x768 res on my desktop monitor. I will try later on my laptop and see if i loads the same.

ETA: Oops... I see that you resized. I went to check again and now it comes up fine.

update:

Well I ran it through an IE6 emulator and i saw what you guys were seeing. I temp. fixed it but for people with IE6 there seems to be a 20px difference making my border off. For IE 7 and firefox it should be good.

Dog snot is, in fact, very helpful indeed. Freshly-gathered, it makes a wonderful preservative for untreated cast iron. It's used as a lubricant on the space shuttle. In some as-yet undiscovered territories, it is dried and used as currency. Hence the oft-heard phrase "Excuse me, have you got two Lhasa Apsos for a whippet?"

Hey, I just took a quick look. Overall I like the layout. The one touchup I can think of is that you could put titles that aren't file names or make it obvious that you wanted the titles to be file names by adding some capital letters. Congrats on your site!
